This is likely the best #1 I have ever read, I’m very excited to see where this goes. “For every storyteller is a liar, trickster, and traitor. Our first allegiance is always to the tale. To trust us is to risk your very heart. Understand ye yet? You will.”

Zero action scenes in this book, all drama. It was outstanding and I loved every page.

This run by Taylor as a whole has been great, I’m sad to see it coming to an end. Fallen Grayson has been a great arc as well.

No angsty irrational responses!?! Wonderful

Still the best Spider-Man book on the market

I’m enjoying this a lot, but if this was main continuity Batman I’m sure I’d feel differently. I like that it’s a separate universe story.

I’m shockingly a fan of these absolute books

This was quite an interesting take, excited to see where this goes.

Another great book. Awesome art in the book and an awesome cover by Alex Ross.

Thor vs Zues? Yes please.

Main story is a great standalone read. Primary plot is only addressed by a few pages at the end.

Last page is an interesting idea, but I can see it happening. Heartless really does have Nightwing in a predicament. I’m enjoying the journey.

It’s hard to finish a run right and tie everything together. This wasn’t perfect, but it did a really good job. It was a page turner for me, for the right reasons. Hopefully the next run doesn’t take a lead from the Wells run on ASM.

Great start! Taylor’s run was going to be hard to follow and I’m glad it wasn’t thrown in the trash and there seems to be some continuity going on here. Art and colors were solid, but the scenes in the dark were outstanding. I’m looking forward to seeing where this run goes.

Stakes are high, let’s see if they can do anything with this.

HATED the prior story arc and everything they’re doing with MJ. This book? This was great. The art on the Kraven pages? Stupendous. *feel that it’s worth mentioning someone who hated the prior arc enjoyed this issue.

Another great one by Wells? Keep MJ away and he does good work?

I still think the start of this run was horrendous. I still think anytime he touches MJ it’s garbage. But, the little things that he’s planted along the way, are they actually going to pay off? Great job on the art.

Giving it a score for what it is. One of the best arcs Wells has had was only a couple issues, and it’s a big part of what led to this arc. It looks like this might be another short lived scenario, but we don’t know yet. Again, haven’t been a fan of his run as a whole but I’ll give credit where it’s due.

I’d rate it higher but when stories of any kind take this angle they never sit with me well and just bother me, which I guess could be the point.

World building for the new “season” of Saga. Getting off to a good start already. I love this book but these long breaks are killing me.

This definitely has a vibe and it’s sticking to it. Again, art is weird but it fits the story. This is dealing with some dark topics, and we still don’t know find out what happened. You can see she’s clearly younger than Peter, so it happened awhile ago. You presume this is what broke him down to this level. JJJ’s character fulfills his purpose and fits right in for what the author is going for, loud obnoxious old man shouting things from his porch. This old guy is on to something though.

Held off on getting this, finally broke down and did it and I have no regrets.

Great world building

Solid issue, the art was done very well and fit the vibe. Biggest downside is Paul’s stupid face is in it.

I have NOT enjoyed a lot of this run. This book? This book was really good. It does lose half a point because it was $10. The book prices are high enough, I don’t need the extra back stories. That being said, the back stories were fine. Glad JRJR is nowhere to be seen, inside or on the cover.

Good action, Miles going through it at the end, and I love how Vicentini draws Hobgoblin.

It’s basically a setup issue for whatever is coming.

I’m not huge on the vampire thing but this issue was cool.

Setup for the rest of the arc, excited to see where this goes.

I don’t agree with the low scores. Good book, good starting point. Interesting in the ways they’re relating to old Gwen.

Fun issue, if I had room in my pull I’d finish the arc.

Got this since Reign 2 was coming out, even though it seemed to be controversial that a sequel was coming. The art is weird, but it fit the vibes of the story. Interesting premise. My only issue is this doesn’t quite feel like the Peter Parker we know, but it’s technically an “else world” type story so I give some lenience.

That last page is nasty, gross nasty. I feel like the church of blood is a little over used but I’m glad he’s doing something which, right now, appears to be different. Stills interested to see where this is going. Love the art.

Art is great and holds the book up a lot for me. An ending we’ve already had a few issues ago? A questionable choice, which seems to be a theme of this entire run.

Honestly it’s just disappointing how much the ball was dropped to start Wells’s run was, Paul and the unforgettable villain from that story arc set Wells up way behind the 8 ball. While this current arc wasn’t bad, it did have its problems and feels easier to pick apart because of the dislike of his earlier issues. I enjoyed Wells’s work prior to him getting on Amazing Spider-Man, I hope the backlash he received here hasn’t disheartened him and he turns it around in the next book he does. He’s got 6 issues left, I hope he finishes ok.

It was a sweet story. Maybe if he did stuff like this from the get go instead of blowing it all up at the start he wouldn’t have gotten all the hate he received.

It’s nice to have unique looking faces again. This feels like it’s going to be a filler arc, so I’m rating it as such. Fun little jaunt.

Art was superb. I know many haven’t been a fun of Zdarsky’s run, but I’ve enjoyed it. I do wish it was better. This one felt like it could’ve been better if there was a tad bit more exposition.

I thought this setup nicely, putting Bruce in a position where he has to question what he’s doing. Apparently I’m disagreed with but I’m curious to see where this goes.

If you’re just getting into comics or know someone who is interested in comics, this is a great starting place for future fans of Wolverine. I’m no wolverine expert, but I didn’t learn too much from this book, a lot of rehashing what we already knew. Again, if you’re unfamiliar it’s great. Otherwise it’s just a jog down memory lane.

Filler/transition issues are hard to rate. For what it was, it was great. But since it really just felt like a placeholder until a possible blood hunt tie in, it couldn’t be much more.

Seems like Blood Hunt may be a cool event, but not interested enough to get more.

It was fine. Start of a new arc, I’d be more excited if I knew anything about the Ric era since we’re surprisingly going back there, but I dropped the book during it.

I don’t love the sidekick idea, but Spider-Boy is a fun character. Nice story.

It’s a bunch of compiled stories form different authors. I thought we were getting a story arc. It’s fine, but these types of books aren’t my thing.

Decent read, clearly a buildup for the next arc.

Sets up status quo for the arc with a new zone and interesting twist at the end. If you’ve been on the fence on staying on, back off the book says issue 36 will be the end.

Meh. It’s primarily just a tie in.

Retcon or reveal, not sure. As a stand-alone book it was good, but a “this character has been there the whole time” angle is almost never good. I appreciate Taylor trying to redeem the good parts of the Ric era, but I’d be even happier if Ric is never mentioned again.

I’m enjoying the adventure. Nothing ground breaking but pretty fun.

Still fun, will tune in to see the ending in #5.

Fun/goofy Silk run.

Spider-Boy (2023) #12 Nov 5, 2024

I want to give it a higher score but admittedly some things just don’t make sense here. The reveal of how MJ dies? Oof. This makes it a lot more understandable as to why Peter is so broken. My issue is, Peter is always the one to rise up from the pain, the punishment. Here, he’s given in. His body almost has a kind of its own but his heart isn’t in it. Doc Oc. Oh Doc Oc. I feel like they just wanted to include him. He’s use as a driver to get us to the MJ reveal, but he really didn’t do anything. He was just a weirdo. I’m assuming a like from this is where they got the Superior Spider-Man idea. Lastly, I get why Peter wants to give up but his approach was, interesting.

The Sandman arc here is depressing, but a well written depressing. We finally see part of Peter’s heart wake up thanks to a near death experience and a “visit” from MJ. My biggest problem is it’s hard for me to see the world where Peter actually pushes that button.

Fun but kind of meh.

Random fill in issue for a big event. It was fine for what it was. I dislike JRJRs art, but I will give credit when it’s due. There were actually some nice panels in this one. The cover is mediocre though.

I’d give this a higher score if it wasn’t an $8 comic with a whole bunch of short stories to round out the back. I did appreciate that it was the same writer and some of them tied together, but the extra money books with multiple stories rarely sit well with me. The main story turned the entire previous arc into a nothing burger. The section with aunt May later was nice, but all the Tombstone court stuff means nothing now. Other than being genuinely disappointed with how the story worked, this was some of Wells better work on ASM. It seems like he’s been able to run free some in the later issues and before in the behind book, and that’s when he was at his best. As a whole run goes, I think this was a failure. I like Zeb Wells as a writer, but this whole run was just not for me. I still think the creation of Jackpot shows Wells/Lowe don’t understand what makes MJ special as a character. I don’t care for Rek-Rap, of the Miles equivalent for that matter. And I’m not going to get started on MJ and the guy who I honestly cannot remember the name of that she’s with now. There was a letter in the back where someone wrote in basically calling out Lowe on how stagnant ASM has been as a whole, and I agreed with damn near every word. Thank you Dapper Dan from MD, I hope somehow you see this. I’d say I’m looking forward to the fresh start, but I honestly don’t know. If I wasn’t trying to collect the entirety of the run I would’ve dropped this 50 issues ago.

When I saw this was coming out I was stoked, Biker Mice From Mars was one of my favorites from childhood. The art was great, really leaning into what we’re familiar with. The story… it was a little disjointed. There was a lot of bouncing around and the dialogue could’ve been better. Its only 4 issues long, but I’m undecided if I’m going to get the rest of it, but if you were a fan as a kid this was a fun little bit of nostalgia.

It feels like they were told they need to speed up the story if they want to finish it, a lot of information that could’ve been drawn out has been thrown at us really fast. I believe there are only 2 issues left, I’m committed to seeing the end at this point.

There’s a lot to like in the story, really. But how they ended the primary story was beyond frustrating. Again Marvel billing something big for sales, and it’s not. More stuff that was previously setup potentially thrown down the drain - emphasis on potentially. This could be a drama turn that leads somewhere. Billing/marketing something for something it’s not will always bring down scores for me, especially when it’s a more expensive issue. If you like JRJR, more of the same. If you hate his work, he doesn’t do all of the pages so you get a break from it. As for the side stories, as much as I hate Paul the MJ story was almost amazing. My issue is *spoiler the rest of the way* MJ does not need to be a super hero. She has stood on her own for decades because of who she is. I don’t know who pushed to idea forward but IMO they don’t fully understand what makes MJ great. I will admit, clever with the name. Other side stories are typical things you find in these thick issues.

I feel like everything they’re trying to do is just to shock you, it’s too much. If the last page wasn’t what it was I probably would’ve dropped it.

I get what they were trying to do but the execution wasn’t there. This one was kind of just all over the place.

My problem with this issue, and this entire run, hasn’t been the separation of MJ and Peter, it’s the circumstances around it. The status quo prior to this was completely disregarded and we just jumped into these new events. This seems more to me like Marvel wanting to sell books out of shock value and Wells wanting to force Felicia/Peter rather than telling a good story. MJ, one of the most well known characters in Marvel, was paired up with a random guy we’ve never heard of. Even after this it seems more from circumstance and going through a terrible 4 years than growing together. It’s disrespectful to MJ. I saw another review that said if Paul/MJ have a trauma based relationship, by that logic Peter/MJ should’ve been married with 12 kids from what they went though. I admittedly wanted MJ/Peter but I’m open to it not working out if it’s done right. I do think this could’ve been a good interesting story, but again it feels more rushed and forced than anything. Plus nothing here was a surprise, we all saw this coming. The only surprise was the kids weren’t birthed from MJ. I’ve liked past work by Wells, I was excited to have him in the book and was hoping #25 would change my opinion but it hasn’t. I am hoping 26 makes it worth it but if they just kill off MJ, I don’t know how they got this story approved. It was teased in this with the “if you get 3 skulls” and I feel like we’re about to see that next issue.
