The entire creative team behind Justice League Dark continues to impress with issue #26, and while it delivers plenty of spectacle in a fight we've all been waiting on, hopefully it can keep up the momentum to nail the ending.

As we sway between the dark reality of death and the surreal nature of existence, Killadelphia #1 finds its success in guiding readers through the apparent dread with impressive consistency and coherence.

Martian Manhunter #1 is a vivid sci-fi story that feels like it knows exactly what it hopes to accomplish. As we go back-and-forth between Mars and Earth, we see a character burdened by his past and struggling with any concept of a future. With some of the most unique visuals on shelves today, its a strong start to a potentially great series.

The Magnificent Ms. Marvel #2 brings all of the heart, action, and mystery found in the first issue...and then some! This is a gorgeous story that delves into some of the most important aspects of Ms. Marvel as a character. Her courage, goodness and brilliance serve as an inspiration for all.

Planetary #1 is the type of issue that can surprise you on multiple fronts, from it's strength of character work to the concise and powerful storytelling. It's high stakes intrigue with a scope that simply isn't often utilized to such success in comics.

The second issue of Planetary feels like a love letter to all things Kaiju on its surface, but investigative elements push the story into new territories, emphasizing the archaeological roots of the team in wonderful new ways.

It's a ghost story on its surface, but there is so much more to uncover in Planetary #3, a visually spectacular issue that ends with a stark look at the reality of exactly what lies before each one of us.

Planetary #4 delivers brilliant visuals while defining a more proactive role for the team in the future, helping to bring some much welcomed direction for the series with the help of a few stunning revelations.

Planetary #5 pushes the boundaries of the comics medium, opening up the entire series to wonderful new depths with a deep dive into Doctor Axel Brass, the heroes of past and what it all means for Planetary.

The historical alignment of Planetary #6 helps to frame an interesting dynamic regarding the prominence of superheroes at the time and the never-ending search for greater power and influence, distilling the importance of the superhero genre into a sci-fi story with real relevance.

Planetary #7 is a love letter and more to Vertigo, that much is certain, but amidst the fond remembrance of a beloved character and publisher we also find unique character moments that allow the issue to flourish.

Planetary #8 hits the ground running with yet another sci-fi mystery with much larger implications for Jakita, Elijah and the Drummer. It's grotesque and deeply compelling, but it also is frustratingly secretive in its intentions, leaving the reader with no choice but to dig into the next issue for more answers.

After eight issues of tidbits of information placed at strategic points in the story, Planetary #9 feels explosive thanks to it's willingness to dig into the core of what this series is doing. There is a sense of urgency now that I have sorely been missing and it really takes the series to a new level.

After the dramatic events in the last issue which saw the release of a fictional individual into our own reality thanks to the Four, Planetary #10 unsurprisingly takes the series in a new direction as the stakes and players become more clear with every issue.

Not many comics can pull off such an intricate mystery while balancing pacing and character development, and also just not forgetting to actually be entertaining. Planetary #11 simply hits all of the right notes.

Planetary #12 is the type of issue that will make your jaw drop. This series is obviously an example of some of the highest quality execution in comics, but it really does just get better and better with each new issue and thats not something easily accomplished.

Spawn Kills Everyone Too #1 a cute and chaotic story filled with unpredictable cameos that succeeds most when not taking itself too seriously. Its a truly entertaining issue that is perfect for both new and longtime fans!

The Devil's Red Bride #1 invokes the best of Samurai classics while bringing in a unique new approach packed with tense character drama and bloody conflict. You won't want to miss this one.

The Walking Dead #186 is a perfect example of the series firing on all cylinders. The character drama feels real and powerful, and the stakes are higher than ever. The consequences of what unfolds will undoubtedly reverberate throughout many issues to come.

The Walking Dead #187 returns to character drama as the citizens of both Alexandria and Commonwealth react to last issues shocking events. Though not as eventful, this issue finds its strength in exploring the relationship conflicts found in both communities.

The Walking Dead #188 focuses on the many moving pieces surrounding the approaching trouble within the Commonwealth, but it unfortunately just doesnt offer much in terms of substantial developments.

The Walking Dead #189 sets the stage for a conflict with consequences unlike anything the series has seen before. With the lines already drawn, drastic measures seem imminent

The Walking Dead #190 is another explosive issue that sees near-unprecedented levels of conflict for the series quickly come to a head. Building on recently boiling tensions, this issue expertly pushes the story forward with intense character developments and classic TWD action.

The Walking Dead #191 is a shocking and powerful reminder that the series is still one of the best ongoing comics available.

Monitor is a sci-fi epic with uniquely impressive visuals that unfolds like a relentlessly paced thriller, and despite the sometimes overly-complex narrative, it's a thoughtful exploration of the dangers of our own technological dependence.

Savage Avengers #1 is a dark story with artwork that captures the violent nature of these characters really well, but unfortunately it doesn't hit the ground running in a satisfying way. It's undoubtedly entertaining and the series itself has unlimited potential, but I just couldn't help but wish for more from the first issue.

Terrifics #24 is a wild ride to say the least, but amid the chaos we also find one of the most shocking and epic developments surrounding the team so far, helping to end the rather bizarre arc on a true high note.

Van Helsing vs. Dracula's Daughter #1 is a book that knows when to have fun with its premise and when to take it seriously. It's a super fun, yet dark issue that is well worth your time and money!

Wolverine: Firebreak (Carey, Kolins, Baumann, Peteri) is the type of Wolverine story that will make you fall in love with the character all over again with it's unique combination of heartfelt brutality.

Batman: The Return is a one-shot from an absolute superstar team of creative talent set to bridge two eras as Bruce returns to the cape and cowl following Dick's time as Batman, but this particular issue finds success in not just its look at Bruce's return but also the Batfamily that has held down Gotham in his stead.

Deadpool #12 delivers one of the most brutal fights in recent history for the character, but it also manages to pack quite a few surprises as well! It's a solid comic with plenty to offer for both new and longtime fans of the Merc With a Mouth.

'Deadpool #13' is an outlandishly hilarious story packed full of classic Wade Wilson antics. What it lacks in seriousness, it more than makes up for with pure unadulterated fun!

'Deadpool #14' is a hilariously pointless story that somehow manages to send a message about what we as readers have come to expect from universe-shattering event tie-in issues such as this.

Invisible Kingdom #1 is a thought provoking and epic entry into a magnificent new world, but pacing issues unfortunately hinder it from truly shining.

Ironheart #6 is a classic Marvel team-up story packed with heartfelt character dynamics and plenty of sci-fi twists that will undoubtedly satisfy the Trekkie in all of us. This is a great example of the potential this character has in the Marvel universe!

'Ironheart #7' is a lighthearted and action-packed story with just the right amount of zombies to show off Riri and Nadia's dynamic friendship. Though lacking in narrative depth, it is a fun issue that keeps the focus on heart and I appreciate that.

'Ironheart #8' continues the recent team-up nature of the series with a beautiful introduction of Doctor Strange in the Sanctum Sanctorum. It's full of drama and heart, but it also feels more concerned with getting Riri to her next destination. Will the next issue make this worthwhile? We will have to just wait and see!

Ironheart #9 is yet another exercise in quality storytelling from a creative team who fundamentally understands this character and how to tie her into the larger Marvel universe.

Life comes crashing down on Miles in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #5. Its a poetic story at heart if you can see past all the (admittedly entertaining) webbing of henchmen and witty remarks. Fans wont want to miss this one, and not just because of the new first appearance!

All the ingredients are there for an interesting and engaging story, but Miles Morales: Spider-Man #6 ultimately comes up short in terms of emotional investment. Hopefully better things are in store for Starling!

X-Corp #2 tightens the pacing and narrows the focus a bit thanks in part to the Hellfire Gala, maintaining the intriguing potential of the series, but might not be enough to hook uncertain readers.

X-Corp #3 continues the macro perspective analysis of corporate decision making in the era of Krakoa, bringing all the tension, uncertainty, highs and lows and consequences of both the business world can deliver for an enjoyable albeit flawed issue.

Young Justice #1 is an action-packed introduction that sets up an epic story going forward. There is a good balance between familiarity and surprise that makes it an enjoyable read, but the true strength of the issue is in both the established and budding relationships of each member. As long as the series can maintain this level of heart, it looks like fans are in for a thrilling experience.

Though hindered slightly by dialogue, Young Justice #2 brings the women to the forefront of the team in a remarkable way. Its a truly enjoyable issue in a series that is poised to only get better from here on out.

Young Justice #3 focuses on Superboys past, and current situation, to delve into what has kept him on Gemworld. Although the other members take a backseat, the story is able to explore the impact of their relationships in a unique way, showing that heart will continue to be the driving force in the series.

Young Justice #4 is a step in the right direction for the series, but its emphasis on outlying plot lines only distracts from those who should be the main focus. Beautiful artwork and some truly heartfelt moments make this an issue still worth reading though.

Batgirl #41 is yet another solid entry in the "Oracle Rising" arc that continues to build up the titular character as a capable and complex hero by bringing her face to face with the dangers of her past.

Batgirl #42 is an issue packed full of unpredictable action and drama, but it's true success stems from it's willingness to explore the impact of consequence in both Bab's journey as a hero and her own personal relationships.

If you were thrown off by the events of last issue featuring one rather eventful kiss between Jason and Babs, Batgirl #43 addresses your worries directly with a heartfelt look at the internal impacts of love torn across worlds and the true power it may hold.

Batgirl #44 might be filled with beautifully illustrated epic high-fantasy dragons and magical swords, but it is a story about the fears of love through and through, taking readers on an emotional roller coaster that ends with a dramatic twist that no one will see coming.

The 'Belle: Thunder of Gods' extended one-shot is yet another fun, fast-paced and action packed comic featuring the titular beast hunter that longtime fans will particularly enjoy.

Drones Vol. 1: Hellfire is a futuristic wartime graphic novel which asks readers to follow a personal vengeance-fueled story that attempts, to limited success, to shed light on a much larger real-world dynamic on the motivations of war. It's good, but it had potential to be great.

Drones Vol. 2 will make you ask some difficult questions and challenge how you look at the world, but it asks an incredibly important question when doing so regarding the inevitability of tragedy in modern wartime situations driven by political discord.

In just one comic, the creative team lays out the foundation for an entire character going forward in the Marvel Universe, something that isn't easily done. Don't miss out on Future Fight Firsts: Crescent And Io #1.

There is really only one takeaway from a book like Captain Marvel #12 and that is to be patient and enjoy the ride. It's a dark and twisted new vision of Carol that you just have to see for yourself to believe.

Captain Marvel #13 is a seamless continuation of the crazy events of last issue, delivering a spectacle of action as this shockingly dark new mystery unfolds at a rapid pace.

Captain Marvel #14 has a super strong script and even more powerful visuals, you would think that's enough right? Well, maybe not. I'm here to say that this is the issue where we get Carol in her most badass form yet, with black fingernails and everything.

Captain Marvel #15 is another action-packed spectacle loaded with intrigue, serving as both a turning point in the arc and for Carol's path forward dealing with Vox Supreme.

Captain Marvel #16 is one exciting ending to "The Last Avenger" arc, it's got action, humor and powerful visuals, but it's also a fundamental breakdown of the basic forces that drive Carol to do what she does.

Captain Marvel #17 is a fun slice of life story featuring Carol and many of her friends, serving as a solid chance to catch your breath after the Dark Captain Marvel arc and before Empyre hits, but it feels like a filler issue and just doesn't quite do enough to keep readers hooked.

Though it ultimately feels like an obligatory tie-in to Marvel's latest event, Captain Marvel #18 does have some good things going for it to keep you interested.

Ultimately, Captain Marvel #19 is a bit of a let down. It's cool to see Carol coming into contact with her half sister and even having a chance to establish some sort of relationship, but it lacks depth and intrigue to stand out as anything other than an obligatory tie-in to an already lackluster event.

With both a foundation of Carol's origins in Kree lore and plenty of spectacular action, Captain Marvel #20 certainly stands out as one of the better tie-in issues we've seen so far from the series.

The slow burn of previous issues come to a head with a violent clash between the villain Karma and Batman while the others try to rescue a group of children held hostage. A strong artistic direction, interesting character development, and plenty of action help this issue stand out as a quality entry in a just okay arc.

The final entry in the On the Outside arc proves to be the strongest one yet. It is a powerful story with gorgeous artwork that explores both the weight of responsibility and the impact of the fear behind the Bat.

Detective Comics #988 draws on Batmans more recent troubled past while bringing the character back to the basics. Its a truly heartfelt story about the Worlds Greatest Detective that any fan can jump right into and immediately enjoy!

Although the emotional weight isnt as noticeable in the second entry into the Deface the Face arc, the focus on mystery and core characters inside Batmans life help to create what is shaping up to be a classic Detective Comics story.

Detective Comics #990 is a mysterious exploration into the psychology of Two-Face as well as Batmans relentless desire to find Harvey Dent within the chaos. The use of mystery and drama along with a few twists make it one of the best issues in the arc!

Detective Comics #991 is at its core an exploration of Harvey Dent as a character and the psychological impact of Two-Face. The mystery surrounding the recent murder is explored in great detail, but hopefully next issue has more to offer.

Detective Comics #992 delivers all of the action missing from previous issues and finally reveals the sinister intentions behind Kobras recent attacks on the city. Overall, it is a solid entry in a well-told mystery story that brings Batman out of his comfort zone to once again save Gotham City and all of its citizens.

Detective Comics #993 brings closure to this mysterious arc, but it also manages to capture a timeless vision of the relationship of Two-Face and Batman. Solid art and an interesting narrative structure help to make this an enjoyable issue that any fan can read.

Detective Comics #994 is a remarkable issue from a new creative team featuring the reunion of Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Mahnke. The story draws on Batmans core emotional struggles to strike a near-perfect balance between mystery and action, delivering one of the best Detective Comics experiences this year.

Detective Comics #995 continues a deadly new mystery weighing heavily on Batman with near-perfect execution from the creative team. The story is incredibly engaging, and the visuals are spectacular. Its a must read for any fan of the Worlds Greatest Detective!

Detective Comics #996 isnt afraid to delve into Batmans past as we look towards issue #1000. Tomasi, Mahnke and the rest of the team have a momentous story that succeeds on many different levels. Unfortunately, it could be a bit intimidating for those less familiar with Batmans complex history.

Detective Comics #997 brings us closer to the anticipated issue #1000 with a daring escape and a brutal fight that is nothing short of nightmare fuel. The creative team has managed to tell a classic story that explores Batmans complicated past while ensuring that not too many secrets are spilledjust yet!

Detective Comics #998 is an action-packed thrill ride with a twist at the end that is both weird and surprising. Whether this pays off remains to be seen.

Detective Comics #999 delves into the traumatic sacrifices Bruce has made to wear the cowl, showing both his mental fortitude and unique depth of emotion. With the help of some powerful visuals, this issue is sure to entertain any fan of The Dark Knight.

After multiple arcs of what turned out to be inconsequential storytelling, it's time for a book with both substance and weight. Unfortunately, "Detective Comics #1009" isn't it.
