It's incredibly frustrating to see such a promising book turn out to be such a mess. We'll see if anything interesting can come out of it.

This series just failed on multiple narrative levels and was unable to provide a satisfying conclusion. It looks great though.

View Issue       View Full Review

The art is fantastic. The issue has that going for it. However, the plot has just gone off the rails to the point that I don't know if it can get back on track.

View Issue       View Full Review

An interesting plot gets a little too clever.

View Issue       View Full Review

I wont fault Humphries or the art team for what happened here, but the issue does get significantly lower marks than if theyd simply had a single fill in penciller to help Rocha get ahead. Its an issue worth reading if you want to keep up with the story, but its a jarring experience at several points in the issue. Hopefully things are back on track next issue, and we get a more cohesive reading experience.

View Issue       View Full Review

This issue continues to make us ask the question why this series continues to exist. The story does nothing but waste time and cause the story to lose momentum. The art is great though.

View Issue       View Full Review

A highly ambitious issue fails to live up to what its trying to do. The case isn't put into making sure that the issues and problems brought up here have the proper care and thought are given to truly serious social ills. There's promise here but with another issue like this, it would be very easily get squandered.

View Issue       View Full Review

Spurrier, unfortunately, writes Kurt Wagner " one of the most sexually open and understanding characters in X-canon " with extremely puritanical attitudes about sex and intimacy. It's so far out of character, especially for the elf who has multiple times been shown on panel wearing nothing but a stuffed animal version of himself.

View Issue       View Full Review

When the story leans into the super, it's a blast, but that's not often enough. The art is the best thing about it, but that's not enough to keep me coming back.

View Issue       View Full Review

It's disappointing to find such a promising book that had such weak execution. There's definite promise though, so I hope to see it swing the right direction.

View Issue       View Full Review

The beginning of the End for the Spider-Verse was a rough start. The art is great but the story has some serious faults.

View Issue       View Full Review

OverallThe concept is fun. The story is even more so. But the line-art is distracting to the point that it's impossible to recommend this without reservations.

View Issue       View Full Review

A so-so story and inconsistent art leads into the weakest issue of Spider-Man Beyond to date.

View Issue       View Full Review

Solid art doesn't make up for a story that relies too much on old tropes. Hopefully the series can improve quickly.

View Issue       View Full Review

It's not totally perfect, but it does have a lot of satisfying moments. I'm glad we'll finally have that resolution so the Spider-Man line can move forward without this hanging over its head.

View Issue       View Full Review

A middling story is elevated by fantastic art. There's potential here though, and we'll stick around for that.

View Issue       View Full Review

A muddy message and confusing themes drags down an interesting concept with great art.

View Issue       View Full Review

An extremely fun story gets dragged down by stiff and lifeless art. There's still a lot of promise in this run, but it needs much more energetic art.

View Issue       View Full Review

The Hulk faces the past violently (as he does) in an absolutely visual feast, with a hollow narrative heart.

View Issue       View Full Review

I didn't hate this issue, but it's so mired in cliched concepts and half- baked execution that it's hard to win me over. The art is still such a return to form for a Spidey legend though

View Issue       View Full Review

There's a lot of good here. Unfortunately, it's overwhelmed by a slow pace. It'll remain to be seen if they conclusion sticks the landing at this point.

View Issue       View Full Review

An interesting premise gets dragged down in the execution. The dialogue is clunky, and the plot is too low stakes to invest in. The art is stiff and figures are awkward. However, when the issue works, it works and shows promise for the future.

View Issue       View Full Review

A finale made necessary by a sudden cancellation makes for a complicated and overstuffed issue. The artist jam is jarring and the story and script fumbles a plotline that requires a lot more sensitivity.

View Issue       View Full Review

An interesting story is bogged down by art that's a tonal mismatch and isn't up to the series' previous standards. It's not bad but it could be a lot better.

View Issue       View Full Review

This oversized finale has problems, but it sets up interesting things for the future. The highs are great though, and it definitely makes it worth a pick-up for any X-Men fan.

Amazing Spider-Man #22 isn't perfect, but it's still pretty enjoyable. Hopefully the next issue sticks the landing.

It's not a bad issue, but it does have some major flaws. I just wish it could have stuck the landing.

Ghost-Maker tries to prove he's better than Batman. Who's he kidding though? No one's better than Batman.

An interesting interlude has to overcome rushed art.

View Issue       View Full Review

This event kick-off is an interesting and pretty launch. Unfortunately, it has some faults in the storytelling that drag it down.

View Issue       View Full Review

If you're looking for something deep and emotionally resonant, unfortunately this isn't it. But a fun action story, with an interesting twist or two? This is a great one-shot for that.

View Issue       View Full Review

An interesting start to a new run that ends up a bit of a mixed bag. While the character work is solid, the plot is a bit cliched and tropey. The art is overall good though. If it overcomes some hurdles, this could be a very fun read for any Flash fan.

View Issue       View Full Review

A strong story is overshadowed by some loose and rushed art. The story is asking all the right questions, but needs art to match.

View Issue       View Full Review

A rough story combined with great art doesn't quite make it's a must-read, but it's pretty worthwhile for any Spider-fan to see Bagley's work return to form.

Hopefully Tim gets another shot soon, with a set-up for success. Even if not, I'm glad we got this for the better part of a year.

View Issue       View Full Review

The X-Men are in a tough spot in their war against the Brood. It's a very pretty issue, but a mixed bag of a story. Hopefully some of the complexity of the issue comes back soon.

View Issue       View Full Review

This issue is fine and the series has shown enough quality, that I'm willing to give it some leeway. Hopefully next issue picks up.

View Issue       View Full Review

Even when the series isn't great, it gets Superman at a level that it elevates the story.

View Issue       View Full Review

While imperfect, this is definitely a fascinating new take on Superman's status quo and the creative team shows that there's a lot of potential in Warworld, even with Mongul defeated.

View Issue       View Full Review

The lead story and one of the back-ups is doing some really fun things with the Superman family. The threat is interesting, the interpersonal dynamics are great, and the art is fantastic. That flashback back-up is just plain boring though and drags the rest of the book down a little.

View Issue       View Full Review

I'll be excited to see what the series comes back with after Knight Terrors. This is a fun book that I really enjoy month after month.

View Issue       View Full Review

An interesting story is frustrated by the larger plot. The art continues to be great though.

View Issue       View Full Review

I went from being somewhat passive about a standard story with good art, to engaged in what story this series is telling. I'm more interested in this than any other Alpha Flight story to date just thanks to a perfectly executed page turn.

View Issue       View Full Review

Spider-Man's life is getting turned upside down. The creative team sets up the pieces for the story to come, with some absolutely incredible art.

View Issue       View Full Review

A team-up is sometimes all you need. It's a pretty simple and straightforward story, but the creative team at least makes it feel like a lot of fun.

View Issue       View Full Review

The penultimate issue of the story is a lot of fun, but the artist jam nature of the interiors does drag it down a little.

The Hobgoblin returns to menace our heroes. It's a lot of fun, and the creative team captures the frightening nature of his return!

Spidey and Venom cross paths in a silly fun new issue. It looks great, and it's fairly basic in its storytelling. Definitely worth checking out!

I miss the days of fill-ins like this. It's fun (but not perfect), but also relevant to the main story. It's good comics, and I'm excited to see it wrap up.

This new run is finally starting to do some interesting things. It looks stunning and the story seems to be catching up with the art.

This is absolutely a case of "it's good, but it could be better. I hope that we see some unpredictable elements enter the run soon.

This is like a fun 80's action movie. Ths story has its flaws, but the art is just a blast.

View Issue       View Full Review

Overall, this is an extremely likable issue, with quite a bit to be engaged in long term. I'm on for the ride, despite its faults.

With a little more character world, this is going to be a strong and incredibly fun series. You need to get in on the ground floor.

View Issue       View Full Review

A fun introduction to the mini-event centered on one of Marvel's longest lived, weird characters. This issue does a lot of heavy lifting and while it doesn't always succeed, it's a lot of fun all around.

View Issue       View Full Review

This issue sets up some interesting stakes for the climax of this volume, and its just-announced follow-up. It doesn't quite land on the real world issues, but the superheroics are top notch from both the art and writing side.

View Issue       View Full Review

The X-Men's descent into Limbo is just a hell of a lot of fun. It's beautifully illustrated, and incredibly silly in the best ways.

View Issue       View Full Review

It takes a lot for a Deadpool story to win me over. A snappy story, fun dialogue, a good art does exactly that here.

View Issue       View Full Review

This event debut has a lot of promise. Unfortunately, clunky dialogue, awkward plot points, and some bad coloring overshadows that promise.

View Issue       View Full Review

Eclipse #1 is a good start to a mini series with an interesting concept. Im onboard.

An old threat actually becomes threatening for the first time, but its hampered by stiff art and a weird twist ending.

Fun character development and a strong plot overcomes some stiff line-art. The issue puts the Flash on a very fun path that strengthens the series' prospects for the future.

View Issue       View Full Review

This is a fun continuation of the new status quo of the Fastest Man Alive. It's a fun exploration of the relationship between father and daughter with a super-villain fight and art that finally fits the story.

The “last” Batman/Superman team-up is a fun adventure, despite its faults.

I was incredibly excited to hear about this miniseries when it was announced, and it lives up to the concept. If youre a fan, pick this issue up. Your inner child will thank you.

The Jedi face the Hutts and the Drengir in a three way war. Scott creates a strong emotional core for the heroes. The art is solid but falls short in a few moments. Overall though, it's a great climactic story for this opening arc.

Superman faces a baffling foe as the creative team's final arc kicks into high gear!

View Issue       View Full Review

The conclusion of this volume of Superman gives us a young hero ready to step into some big shoes. It's a fan adventure, with solid art, but doesn't quite stick the landing in giving Jon Kent a jumping off point in his journey to become Superman.

View Issue       View Full Review

This continues to be a strong start to the series, but needs to slow down a little bit. With more deliberate pacing, it can really be something special.

View Issue       View Full Review

Another solid issue of this miniseries. It looks good and it's full of interesting characters and concepts. Really, the only strike against it is that it is largely set-up for everything to happen next issue.

View Issue       View Full Review

A stronger entry in the series so far, this shows the potential of what the series could be. We just hope it's an indication of the overall direction and not just a fluke.

View Issue       View Full Review

The big coming out issue is more of a story about control and responsibility. The reveal is just one element of a bigger picture, and we'll see what it means for the future.

View Issue       View Full Review

This issue has two sides. The adventure team-up side of story is a lot of fun and looks great. The villain's part of the story is still struggling to find an identity though.

View Issue       View Full Review

This continues to be a fantastic series, even with some bumps along the way. It's an addition to the Bat family that I think we need, and I can't help but love.

View Issue       View Full Review

We get to see a marked improvement from last month. Some of the struggles of last issue are overcome but the series still has a way to go.

View Issue       View Full Review

As an X-Men action story, this issue is a lot of fun. As an event setting up the next stage of the X-Men line, it unfortunately falls short.

View Issue       View Full Review

Some very interesting writing and plot points are overshadowed by issues on a deeper level. There's still a lot to like but the line needs to be better.

View Issue       View Full Review

This is an issue worth picking up for the art alone. It's a fun read, but it's also not a satisfying read, acting more as a tease for next week's Planet-Size X-Men.

View Issue       View Full Review

While a decent issue on its own merits, it is a bit of a rough issue in the overall picture of the series. A fun detour that feels a bit out of place.

View Issue       View Full Review

There's definitely some pacing problems here, but overall, this issue was a lot of fun. It's the sort of story that I think the line continues to need.

View Issue       View Full Review

I'm a little bummed to see this "season of this series come to an end. It sort of feels like wasted potential, and I hope the next phase of the story learns some lessons from its missteps.

View Issue       View Full Review

For an issue that was frankly a mixed bag in quality, I still really enjoyed it. It points to a very fun future for the X-Men.

View Issue       View Full Review

A triple sized issue with interesting plot points and great art doesn't completely save this mega annual for the entire X-Men line. There's a lot to like that makes it worth picking up, but it's also a weak story that's more of a collection of plot points and set-up than it is a story of its own.

It sounds like The Rise is going to be a semi-regular companion to Animosity, so I definitely welcome learning more about this new world, alongside the main series. If it can built connections like its companion, and make us care about its character, Bennett has a home run on her hands.
