Image has some of the best books I’ve ever read. Lately, they’re just proving that to be even more accurate. This book is definitely one of the better books I’ve read this week. You just HAVE to check it out.

Bottom line is, this series is amazing. It’s brilliant—genius, even. It’s a great way to nod to the brewing community and bring attention to the ever-growing population of drinkers and brewers. This comic is worth every second of the read.

Valiant is releasing some amazing books these days, and this has got to be one of—if not the—best. This series is dramatic in circumstance but lighthearted with humor. The creative team on this series is doing an amazing job of delivering talented, quality material that couldn’t bore you even on the 10th re-read. This is brilliant stuff that is well worth the read for anyone who enjoys a good story.

This issue doesn’t have too much exchange of dialogue, but it says way more than words could. We get to see Abe in new territory (even though it’s a familiar place). The creative team has done an absolutely fantastic job with this issue. In a word, it’s beautiful. Every Hellboy/Abe Sapien fan needs to read this.

This is a beautiful conclusion to a very beautiful miniseries. All ends are tied up with suspense and action. With Delgado’s illustrations and Hill’s colors, this issue is visually stunning. It isn’t easy to provide a complete narrative without any words, but Delgado does it, and does it well. If you haven’t read this series, you’re missing out.

This book is intensely honest and beautifully disgusting, but you still won’t be able to stop reading, no matter how much your eyes squint and body cringes. Instead of taking a Golden Age character and bringing his old self back to life in a boring reboot of adventures we’ve already seen, Robinson and Hinkle create a new work of art worth all the praise that it gets, and much more.

View Issue       View Full Review

Robinson and Hinkle have created a confessional and bold account of writing this series, with tons of juxtaposition between our world and Airboy’s. This is entertainment at its finest, and the very peak of creativity. If you miss it, well, sucks to suck. So pick it up and be utterly blown away.

View Issue       View Full Review

I have been a fan of the new Airboy series from issue #1. Greg and James create this series so perfectly, while in direct coordination with one another. The series brings back the old story of Airboy, while the creative team puts a modern and semi-autobiographical spin on it. This is definitely worth a read (for anyone over 18). I don’t care what genre you’re into or what you’ve heard about Airboy; I recommend it to each and every one of you, with the highest of regards.

This is a very artistic issue, in terms of both illustrating and writing. The whole Alabaster series is a good one, but you don’t need to have read it all to enjoy this miniseries. Kiernan definitely knows what she’s doing, and she creates an amazingly intriguing story for us to follow.

Aftershock is releasing a lot of really good books lately, and this is a great addition to their list. This issue is an amazing start to what I expect will be a really interesting series. Azzarello is doing a fantastic job of drawing us in, and it’s only the first issue! I can’t wait to see where he takes the series, and how his characters are interrelated, but I know it’s going to be good.

I am sad to say this is the end, but excited to say it’s the beginning of something else very special, unique, and just plain cool. Enjoy this book, and keep your eyes open in July for the all-new Archie.

View Issue       View Full Review

I can honestly say I am thoroughly impressed by this issue and am insanely excited for the rest of this series. If you read Archie as a kid, even read one issue, you need to take a look at the new series. It is better than I expected, and there’s so much more to come. Here’s to our old friend and our new one, who will hopefully last all 666 issues that the original Archie did, if not more. Cheers!

This book is just one issue in a series of consistency and brilliance. Mignola, being Mignola, writes of the B.P.R.D. with ease and flow, letting us calmly but excitedly move from page to page with a hungering want for more. Instead of shoving a bunch of action at us, Mignola and Arcudi take their time to write out a story arc for us to be drawn into, and emotionally invested in—as much as Kraus is emotionally invested in finding himself and coming to terms with what he has done, as well as what he is yet to do. If you’re a Hellboy fan, you can’t afford to pass this book up.

View Issue       View Full Review

I’m a big Mignola fan, so of course I’m going to recommend this book to all of you. If you’re into rather sophisticated horror (not just slashers with gore and violence), this comic is definitely for you. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: When a comic book can make you think beyond just the storyline, you know it’s a good one. This issue won’t let you down.

This is the last issue of Betty and Veronica, for now. An all-new Betty and Veronica series is on its way to fit in with the new Riverdale Universe. I’m stoked to see what shenanigans Betty, Veronica, and the whole Riverdale crew will get into. At least we know there is never a dull moment with these two friends running around town.

This is the best comic book I’ve read all week (competing neck and neck with Bob’s Burgers). Once I read the first bit of humor, I didn’t think I would like it too much (because I like my horror rather horrific), but hot damn was I proved wrong! This is definitely a fan of either genre. It has good storytelling through a flawless script, very telling artwork, and it’s a real treat to read.

View Issue       View Full Review

This issue is a great way to add to the silliness that is Bob’s Burgers. For anyone who is already a fan, you can’t pass this one up. For anyone who wants to become a fan, these are three stories that will surely keep you entertained. The Belcher family as a whole is something we all need more of.

I’m looking forward to whatever battle will happen next issue. I hope the werewolves battle it out with the vamps; that would be a nice fight to see. It’s an age old conflict, but it never gets old. Next month, we get to see where the vampires reside! Keep reading, you little horror hounds, to see what happens next!

View Issue       View Full Review

This has been my favorite series lately for a lot of reason. Minimalistic writing that still packs a punch, a dark and brooding tone, monsters taking over Earth (actually, monsters in general), artwork that isn’t as “polished” as mainstream comic books’ art, and so much more. If you’re into horror in the least bit, you can’t pass this series up.

View Issue       View Full Review

These are some seriously righteous stories that are unfortunately justified to be true in the world today. It’s really upsetting, but honestly, I’m not sad after reading this issue. I’m pretty happy to see that I’m not the only one who thinks a lot of the world is unreasonable. Not only that, but these stories aren’t random tales told for the Hell of it. They have purpose and meaning; they make you think. It has been a long time coming, but the CBLDF has done a damn fine job of letting this industry finally get a hand at telling the truth. For anyone who is interested in current events/issues, you can’t pass this book up.

If you’re squeamish, try not to linger on the visuals that much. Overall, this book is perfect! The writing is so in depth and entertaining, and the artwork complements it perfectly. It’s a really nasty book that you have to read. It’s for your own good, I promise.

This is, without a doubt, one of this year’s must read books. I am astonished by this plot, surprised by its start, excited for more, and emotional just thinking about Wes Craven in general. Thank you, sir, for everything you have given us. We will always remember you—in the scariest of ways.

This is a fantastic issue, with six amazing stories to scare the pants off of you, and make your sides hurt from laughing. With so many writers and artists, Creepy has given itself room to experiment with different styles of this medium, and tell some really brilliant horror-comedy stories.

Creepy never lets me down in terms of mystery, horror, intrigue, and even laughs. This is a great issue to contribute to an already iconic series. I definitely recommend picking this up as soon as you can. Stay creepy, my friends, and read on!

This is going to be a fantastic series. It has so much depth to it. It's honest, brutal, and super entertaining. Trust me, you'll be enthralled from page one.

This is a really modern yet archaic take on the western (I know—oxymoronic; but you’ll understand once you read this book). This looks like a really promising series. If you’re a fan of westerns, horror, action, adventure, reading, life, anything and everything, you have to read this book. It’s the best thing I’ve read lately, and I’m already itching for more.

View Issue       View Full Review

In the end, I’m just a really big fan of this series. There are so many elements of it that I can relate to, and that in and of itself makes it worth reading. The amazing writing and striking artwork/colors are a bonus, too. If you’re a college kid/recent graduate, or you’re just interested in and/or miss your college years, I’d say this book is perfect for you. Any “young adult” (I keep putting it in quotes because you’ll understand it, but I hate that term) will understand and respect this series.

For anyone who is in this stage of life, or wants a trip down memory lane, this series was meant for you. This issue alone brings hope to anyone who feels like giving up on something, just as Esther wanted to. It gives a good message in a funny and understandable way. The creative team does an amazing job, and I seriously couldn’t recommend this book enough.

View Issue       View Full Review

Many hardcore Marvel fans might not enjoy the undoubtable fluffiness of this series, but it is a good series regardless. It still has action and subtle violence, but for the most part, it is just a cute story to follow about a tree named Groot.

View Issue       View Full Review

I look forward to every single issue of this book because of how weird it is, despite the overdone pact-from-way-back-when/kid-must-die-when-they’re-an-adult theme. If you like creepy, eerie, gory, and scary stories, don’t hesitate to pick this one up.

This is a seriously humbling story about some insanely terrible truths. I cannot wait to read issue #2 to see how Josh handles everything that has just happened. As for now, I'm stuck with feeling angry (about the content) and impressed (of the execution). The creative team on this series has done a really amazing job of drawing us in. I have no doubt that more awesomeness is to come!

As you can imagine, with me being me, I geeked out way too much over this bi-monthly series, eager to read through the grossness of it all. If you’re even remotely like me, and have even one percent of my love for horror, you cannot afford to pass this series by. It’s too classic, too amazing, and almost too good.

View Issue       View Full Review

I’ve tried to put all bias aside for this review, since I am a long-time fan of anything Hellboy related. Even so, this issue is a 10 out of 10 to me. Its pacing is perfect, it has intrigue, mystery, and a character we all know and love on an earlier mission with the B.P.R.D. If you’re a Hellboy fan, or want to start being one, this issue is the way to go. You will not be disappointed—not one bit.

Being a long-term fan of Mignola, I think all his work is amazing. This issue in particular is filled with such twists, so much morbidity, blood, anguish, and a lot of foreshadowing. Mignola has really outdone himself. I can’t wait to read more Hellboy in Hell material.

Hexed is one of those storylines that is so interesting that I can’t put it down for even a second. It’s the perfect crime-infused magical plot, so much that it feels as if this could actually happen. Between the art and action, the plot starts to make you feel as if you’re watching a movie—one of those movies that leaves you itching for more when it’s over.

This is some of Tomasi’s best work to date. This is an intensely atmospheric, dark, horrific, macabre, and almost philosophical comic book. After I finished reading it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it for a good long while. I hope we get to see Sarah’s demons come to life. Keep reading if you do, too.

This series is building up the horror with every issue, and this issue finally showed us just how bad things are getting for both Sarah and Warren. I’m excited to see where things go from here and how Sarah is going to handle them. For any and all horror fans, you can’t pass this issue up.

This is a beautiful, sincere, heartwarming story, and I can’t wait to read more of it. Millar has created an amazing character, and his life is about to get turned upside down.

This series keeps getting better and better. The plot has just taken a HUGE twist, and I am beyond excited to see where Millar takes things. Of course, I’ll always be on Huck’s side. Tom sucks. That being said, this issue is one of the best yet. If you haven’t gotten into this series, now is your chance! Start reading before we delve really deep into the plot.

I am so, SO impressed with this issue. It’s filthy, it’s funny, and it’s beautiful. If you’re into fantastical and satirical stories, you can’t miss this issue. Skottie Young has really outdone himself here, and I couldn’t be happier for him. Not to mention, we get an AWESOME new series.

I am both disturbed and insanely impressed by this issue. I almost can’t fathom how talented both Bennett and Kristantina are. Their work is so in sync, that the pleasantness of the story and the disgustingness of the twists are shown perfectly through both the writing and artwork. This issue blew my mind, and I am beyond stoked for the rest of this series. If you like gore, revenge, and mainstream portrayal of homosexuality (way to go, Bennett), you HAVE to read this issue. This proves to be a great horror series.

I have to admit, I'm not too into superhero comics, and I never have been. Invincible is one of the few that can actually keep my interest, especially now that we're on another planet. Earth isn't boring or anything, but other planets are just more entertaining. That being said, this story is appropriate for new Invincible readers as well as the diehard fans that have every issue. It'll give you a mix of emotions and an overall good read. Now is the perfect time to start following Mark Grayson on this new chapter of his life.

Anything that has Jim Henson’s name on it is good in my book. Regardless of labels or franchises, however, this series is definitely looking to be a good one. An old man telling his dog stories—what more could we ask for? This is a must-read for anyone and everyone.

I’ve been looking forward to this book for quite some time now, and it was well worth the wait. I’ve just read an exceptional book about an absorbing storyline. I’m actually sort of bummed that I’m done reading it already. You get my point: this book is awesome, and it will do you well to read it.

This series is picking up with plenty of good and entertaining material. This issue served as a way to get us to understand/trust John Flood. From now on, hopefully we can stay focused on the serial killer. Although, catnapping is fun to read about, too. There was no animal cruelty or anything gruesome of that nature, so this issue was a good read. Jordan is doing a magnificent job of developing these characters and making them work well together in the process. I’m already itching for issue #3!

This issue went by fast, but I think that's just because I was eager to read as much as I could as fast as I could. I'm pretty bummed that this series is over, solely because the characters are so easy going and loveable. Jungle Jim the miniseries is over, but here's hoping we get some more of this coolness!

This book is the most perceptive I’ve read in a long while. Kot forces us to think about what is happening in the book, and how it relates to our modern world—and trust me, it does. I’m not going to get into the politics of it all, because my fingers might bleed from all the typing I would do, but I will say that this book sheds an immense amount of light on recent events and situations that we all have either seen, heard of, or been a part of. This book will make you THINK. With that, I pay my respects to the people whose names are mentioned in this book, and I trust that you all know a good comic book when you see one; pick this up, and get Google open to do some research as you read this phenomenal, socially accurate, heartbreaking, brutally honest series.

Fingerman’s writing is, I’ll say it again, extremely real. He shows us situations that we ourselves have been through, are going through, or will go through, and gives very plausible outcomes from those situations. The language is natural and fluid, as is the artwork. Fingerman isn’t afraid to show the ugly side of his characters, and that, the normalness of this book, is why I love it so much—and so will you.

This book is brilliant"a diamond in the rough, I'd say. Every now and then, a book like this will appear. One that's different from what you're used to reading. One that leaves you thoroughly satisfied. This is that book. This book is definitely a must-read.

Guy’s caption boxes let us know exactly what he is thinking, and a lot of it reigns true for anyone who has experienced depression. We look back a lot, instead of to the future. We dwell. We let it get the best of us. Thankfully, that changes up a bit in this issue. My point is, Lindsay really understands and portrays depression in a truthful light. It gets a lot worse than what we have seen, but I’m glad it’s at least being shown. It doesn’t make us “crazy,” but simply a little different (in a bad way, unfortunately). Either way, this is a damn good issue that adds to an already amazing series. Trust me, you’ll love it.

Moore does an amazing job at writing an intricate and interesting story that delves into the depths of this fictional mystery, and real Lovecraftian and occult topics. Burrows’ artwork perfectly depicts the time period, and draws us into the story with an unrelenting grip. If you’re a fan of horror, Lovecraft, Moore, and just good storytelling, you have to pick this up. Seriously, it’s for your own good.

There are hidden messages in the writing and artwork. The protagonist is a Lovecraftian character who goes against Lovecraft’s beliefs. He’s writing a book that takes him to a place with fish-people. Alan freaking Moore writes this series. I don’t think I have to tell you to read this issue/series, but I’m going to go ahead and do it anyway. This is the most interesting series I’ve been keeping up with lately, and your life needs it, even if you don’t know it yet. Modern journalism is put under the microscope, as is a truly messed up idea of Wood’s, that has come to life not by solely words, but by the characters that Wood has created to help him tell the story. I’d say the first issue was a success, and I’m sure the subsequent issues will be, too.

They seem like the most genuine, sincere, and honest people (and it’s sad that the outcasts are the ones that seem sincere and cops seem like jerks) that I would love to befriend. I didn’t write these comics and scripts; I wasn’t a part of the production of these stories, but with a character like Sabrina, I feel like I am a part of it. She isn’t just a character, she’s someone I know—a friend. This book was meant to be a sort of reality check for all of us. Technology isn’t as bad as drugs, but it alters the mind, causes short attention spans, lessens impulse control, etc. It’s absolutely disheartening, seeing the connections between drug addiction and technology addiction. This is, surprisingly, a Secret Wars tie-in. We don't see any reference to Battleworld, their domain, or God Doom, and I really like that. Honestly, I'm a little sick and tired of hearing about all that. It's refreshing to see a story take place in that world, without referencing the mainstream titles or characters. Ennis does an impressive job of making this issue humorous rather than offensive, adding in the tropes and Amazonian stereotypes we know. Even so, this script would be nothing without Braun's truly amazing artwork. It has movement, emotion, naturalness, action, and comedy, all in one issue. This isn't an issue (and a series) that you want to miss.

Molina’s artwork is just as telling as the dialogue, like when Sister Grimm blames She-Hulk for Ms. America’s fate. Each character shows expression more than I’ve seen in a lot of comics these days—Molina goes above and beyond the call of duty here. A-Force is quickly turning into one of my favorite comic books, not because they’re all women, and not because there’s good action in the storyline (both are true), but because the book itself is always aesthetically pleasing, and written in such a way that it pushes me to keep reading. Overall, I think it was a great idea to bring back a classic comic book and reboot it as a horror genre book. This is something we don’t see too often but, when done right, can be a raging success. I think that’s what we have here, with Afterlife with Archie. Needless to say, I recommend this book for anyone who used to read Archie, or anyone that wants to get into Archie.

Afterlife with Archie is just getting good, and things are taking a pretty big shift. Will Archie go after Reggie? Will Reggie defy his friends? Anything could happen, so keep reading and see what happens in the afterlife, with Archie and his Riverdale friends!

I highly recommend this book to any and all X-Men fans. It lives up its predecessor’s legend. Anyone who read the ‘90s version will be pleasantly surprised as to how intricate and amazing this new series is coming along. New fans will love it just as much as older ones loved the original, and then some. Check it out!

This comic book, though silent, is one of the best, most suspenseful, beautiful and majestic books I have laid my eyes upon. However, in order to appreciate and understand the cinematic feel to it, you need to set aside time to look very carefully at each panel, so as to fully comprehend what is going on. This isn’t a book to go through quickly, just because there are no words. And if you have the time to really enjoy it, I recommend it for every single one of you, no matter what your “style” of book is.

Issue #3 of Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies is a success! Robinson and Pugh make one damn good team, and make this series as amazing as it is. This series will complete your life. Go pick it up and give it a read. Right now. Seriously, now. And…BREAK!

This miniseries has been a joy to keep up with. It’s a really intense and unique storyline that creates a whole new type of enemy. How cool is that?! Freaking zombies and robots; I can’t get over it. But once again, the heroes triumph. Well, it’s up for debate. Ultron and his army took a hit, but the heroes took an even bigger one, I think. Either way, this is one really awesome issue, and a great way to close out the series.

I think I was right in predicting this to be an incredible series. We now have characters that are getting closer with each other (James and Airboy’s in-depth conversation), and new levels of characters that we haven’t yet seen. Airboy is exhibiting not only anger, but revenge. James even cries in this issue because he thinks he is bipolar, but he’s too scared to be medicated. From a medicated bipolar person’s standpoint, the tears are understandable. The characters are no longer dorks doing drugs; they’re turning into real human beings with emotions, who make mistakes and learn from them. It can only get better from here, so tag along for the awesomeness that is Airboy!

Anyone who is even remotely a fan of the Aliens franchise needs to read this series. There are so many elements to just this one issue alone. We have suspense, horror, violence, atmosphere, AI, high technology, and a journey to save the human race. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone interested in any of the aforementioned aspects of the series.

As we all know, I'm big on nostalgia, and I'm a big '90s kid. That means I grew up with Peter and Mary Jane's relationship. This book hits home, in the best way possible. It's a heartfelt progression of a beloved character, over the span of what his life would have been like if the '90s Spider-Man stories carried out. This is a beautiful representation on one aspect of Peter Parker's life, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. If you support Peter and Mary Jane's relationship, this book is definitely for you.

It’s a difficult task, taking such an old and cherished character, and turning him (and his friends) into something completely different. Be that as it may, Waid and Staples are definitely the right duo to take on the challenge. So far, I’d say the all new Archie series is doing pretty well, and is giving us a brand new character, with the same old goofy-but-cute characteristics. If you’re an Archie fan, or ever were, you can’t pass this one up.

This series has been off to a great start. It’s not easy to reinvent a character as classic as Archie, but Waid and Staples are making it look effortless. I can’t wait to see what Waid has in store for us in the future. Judging by what we’ve seen so far, it’s going to be good!

Needless to say, this issue is a really good one. We get to see the history of present day Riverdale, and boy does it tell us a lot. I'm really curious to see what Betty, Jughead, and Reggie have planned for Archie and Veronica. There's no turning back now! If you even moderately like(d) Archie, you can't miss this awesome new, revamped series.

Archie is a classic series that Waid has taken to revamping for us. Thus far, he and the several artists he has worked with have done quite an amazing job of keeping things relative to the original while revving it up a bit. Nothing has been too safe or too “out there” for me, so I’m content with the speed Waid is moving the series here. For any and all Archie fans, this is a series you just can’t miss.

It’s great to see that such classic characters are still as popular and alive as ever, and I can’t wait for more!

Armor Wars doesn’t directly tie-in with Secret Wars, and I’m very thankful for that. I’m glad that we don’t see Victor Von Doom lurking around the corners of Technopolis, and Stark has jurisdiction here (under Doom, of course). Overall, this is a truly different and independent book, that I’m more than excited to see more of.

This is a simple issue that takes me back to the Batman TV show. This series is a great one, especially since you don’t need to read one issue to understand the next. These independent stories really help show off Batman and Robin for the heroes they are. It’s a must-read series for any Batman fan.

Although all four main characters are kind-hearted and realistic people, I personally think they’re going to go for it. You can only go so far without money, and these old actors (and one actress) sound desperate. Despite the fact that robbing San Diego Comic Con is a not-so-bright idea, they seem like smart people, and will go about it in a tactical way. Honestly though, I have no idea if they will get away with it. There are two outcomes, and I’m 50/50. But, I’ll tell you this much: I can’t wait for issue #2 so I can see what happens!

At times, the work that Wiesch put together is almost too graphic for me. Clearly not one for the kids. In any case, it’s an amazing book with an incredibly true take on trauma, and should be read by the adult comic book readers out there—although even you might have to shield your eyes from some panels. It’s creepy, scary, eerie, twisted, and perfect.

I’m going to miss Big Man, but who knows if we’ll see more of him in the future? Hopefully he’ll get his own ongoing series instead of just a miniseries of four issues. As gory, violent, and disturbing as this comic book is, I can’t seem to get enough of it. Either I’m really messed up and deranged, or this is one damn fine book. I like to think it’s the latter. For any Bob's Burgers fan, you'll know that this story isn't like the TV show in that it is really "out there." The TV show is a more realistic show in terms of concept. It deals with everyday situations"not being able to pay your bills, going to school, running a business, being a parent, etc. the kids are eccentric, but the comic book series always takes things a step further. So, fans of the TV show will be in for a nice treat when the three kids get into even more crazy antics here than on the TV. This series keeps getting better and better. The storylines are getting a bit more intricate now, which I really appreciate. It’s pretty fun going with Groot on his journey to find Rocket Raccoon. It’s a cute series with issues that don’t take a long time to read, so keep up, and enjoy.

This issue is a one-shot, but I really, REALLY hope it turns into an ongoing series at some point. This is a comic book I could get behind. It takes some intense corporations and turns their members into human beings, every day folks. It’s an amazingly funny book about the life of a normal guy, who just happens to be a part of a villainous organization.

Both Crook and Bunn are two very talented people, and have come together to create a creepy, cute, mysterious, weird, and just plain awesome story. If I were you, I’d drop everything and go get a copy. In fact, that’s probably what I’m going to do when I get to go home today. I’ll see you at the comic shop!

This series is chilling, haunting, terrifying, and dramatic. It won’t scare you outright, but it’ll stick with you after you read it. For an unconventional horror story, this is definitely the way to go.

This is one of the best horror series out there right now. It’ll make you actually think, instead of simply showing gory illustrations page after page; I can respect that. It’s intricate, unique, dark, twisted, and perfect. For anyone looking out for something new and/or in the horror genre, look no further.

This is a really great issue to add to the series. Bernice’s character is really starting to become independent, and it’s brilliant to see her life aside from her friendship with Emmy. Now she has started a whole new journey of learning Lady Lovey’s “profession.” This story is about to get really interesting. For any and all horror fans, this series is one you just can’t skip out on. The creative team does an amazing job with all aspects of the story; trust me, you will be entertained and enthralled.

This story was interesting when it started last issue, but it is only getting bigger and better. There are a lot more pieces to the puzzle that is Huck, and I am beyond stoked to figure it out.

Huck is a really likeable character with a lot of charm and a generally endearing, innocent nature about him. I can’t wait for Huck to get to know his biological family. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and I’m already itching for more!

I Hate Fairyland is an amazing series so far. I have no idea where Young is going to take it from here, though. With the loss of Gertrude, I’m not too certain of anything in the series anymore! Is Happy going to take her place? Is Gertrude going to come back to life? Is there even a key at all? One thing is for sure: with each issue, we’ve seen new parts of Fairyland, and with each subsequent issue, we will continue to do so. Young has created a new, unique, oxymoronic universe for us to delve into, and I can’t get enough!

This series has taken quite a few twists and turns, and it’s bound to take a lot more. Now that Gert is free, Fairyland is sure to go through a lot of mayhem. Whichever it is, I’m excited to see Gert loser her way and Larry get fed up with her.

Despite the fact that Logan’s character isn’t doing all that we would like to see, this book is fantastically written and, knowing Bendis, Logan will do the storytelling himself, at whatever pace he feels is natural and appropriate.  This book pushes the metaphorical boundaries of Battleworld, to include the stretches in which so many tie-ins can survive. There is a lot more story for Bendis, Sorrentino, and Maiolo to create and explore, and I have no doubt that the best of it is yet to come.

I’m so glad these two are teaming up for a series I’m sure we won’t soon forget.

The creative team on this series has done a phenomenal job on the first issue. There is a lot of emotion and action in this issue that take us back to the beginning days of Spider-Man. This is most definitely a series to keep track of.

I’d say this issue is a success. This is a great way to start off the series. Now, we know that next issue is going to bring some action. I’m excited to see how Poe and his team handle the First Order. For any Star Wars fan, this is a must-read, no doubt about it.

This is an incredible story that is here to hold us over until the new film comes out. This issue is artistically beautiful and written in such a way that will make you want to keep reading once it’s over. If you’re a Star Wars fan in the least bit, you have to check out this issue.

This issue is very well-written and illustrated. This is probably one of my favorite books under the Secret Wars label (it’s tied with Where Monsters Dwell). The lighthearted writing and cartoonish illustrations are paired perfectly with one another to create a fun and sweet tone for the series. I definitely recommend this series for you all to read. I can’t wait for more!

This is an amazing series that is doing really well so far. I hope we get to see more of Angie and Gavin’s teamwork. I don’t know what Angie’s mother is up to, but I don’t like it one bit. Seeing as Angie is the only outside party who knows about it, it’ll be interesting to see what she’s going to do about it (if anything—I don’t see why she wouldn’t help Gavin out, though). Stick around for more of Starve’soriginal blend of brutality and awesomeness!

We know something big is coming, and we know Wilson is going to be a significant part of it. The only thing is, he doesn't expect it just yet. I'm really excited to see him and Brownfield work together more. I'm actually stoked about learning more complexity theory throughout this series, too. This is a great issue to open up the series and, knowing Soule, things are about to get pretty exciting. So, keep reading to see the madness unfold!

This series is shaping up to be a good one. So far, we’ve gotten a few characters, and one literally big one, who is probably going to end up being the heart of this series. Both writing and illustration is on point, so there’s really no excuse not to get this book.

Any Tank Girl fan will enjoy this issue and series overall. The adventure, action, and crazy antics are truly something to love. This series will take you places you can’t go in real life, to give you a small break from reality. I’m not saying this criminal life is something to look up to, but exploring the world sure is. I fully recommend this issue to any and all fans of a good story, great artwork, and an overall fun read.

The narrative structure actually isn’t hard to understand at all, and adds to the craziness of the warzone setting. It’s a brilliant take with a fresh new storyline for our teenage witch—most definitely worth reading.

Overall, this issue has incredible pacing and is a great way to showcase both Odetta and Detta. It moves the story along quite nicely, and definitely lets us see how difficult a journey this is actually going to be. I’m excited to see where this series goes. I have no idea what’s with the pregnant or just-got-out-of-a-c section-with-no-stitches woman, but she’s fairly bloody and has glowing eyes, so she’s on my good side thus far. As for the weird assed parasite, hopefully we see more of what it can do besides make humans kill themselves (however, yes, that is bad enough and, no, suicide is not a joke). Either way, it’s sure to get better in the future. Here’s hoping we get so scared we wet ourselves!

This series is the crude truth about the kind of people we know we are, but don’t care to admit, at least most days, anyway. These four guys have been through a lot in two issues! It wouldn’t surprise me if Dorkin came with some more material, though. This is an amazing series, but you have to be willing to laugh at yourself in order to enjoy this book. If you’re not, you’ll just get pissed off. For those of you who can make fun of your own lifestyle, pick this up, sit back, and enjoy.

It’s safe to say that I’m beyond impressed with this premiere issue of this intense series. This is a sensitive topic, unfortunately, so Aaron and Guera are sort of walking on eggshells while they portray such a sacred book. Co-creators Hawkins and Ekedal don’t just write a book to say they wrote it, but they think deeply about the politics and societal aspects of religion, which people don’t do enough. Any comic book about religion is a touchy one, but one with such a real script and blunt artwork is a fantastic one.

It took a second read to soak in all the awesomeness of this book. But what I got was: it reads at a stable pace, the artwork is appropriate for the subject matter, and it sends a good message. Brennan and Jackson write the script in such a way that it is easy to follow, and keeps your attention. You can try to read it fast, but you might miss something (as you read, there's a lot going on in this issue). The writing in this issue is consistent with that of the last, in that it reflects the typical slang-imbued dialogue of the Adventure Time series. I was, in all honesty, expecting this book to be kind of stupid, because it's mixing old (Archie) with [fairly] new (Sharknado). This is really just a bunch of shenanigans that ensue from absolutely nothing, and they’re humorous because of just that. I’d say this is a solid first issue that gives us a taste of what to expect in the future. The best part? You don’t need to keep up to understand the stories or enjoy them. I couldn’t tell you how much I love that.

Each of these stories has some element of magical realism, which isn't really what the show is about. The show was meant to reflect everyday life and the struggles/joys we experience therein. These are great stories, but it's hard for me to accept them as Bob's Burgers stories. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading them. I would definitely recommend this issue for any Bob's Burgers fan out there.

The point of this series isn’t to relive the TV show, but to use the TV show as a base to create new, original stories. The writers and artists on this series come up with some seriously entertaining stories. Regardless of how it fits in with the TV show, these are good stories that showcase the perfect characterization that has been done by the scriptwriters for the show. This is another great issue to add to a series that takes our favorite animated show a bit further. This is definitely a must-read for any Bob’s Burgers fan.

Valiant’s next big event is here, and it’s off to a great start. Although we don’t see the whole of the character cast just yet, we know they’re coming. Venditti uses his characters to tell the story for him, so we can only expect that the best is yet to come. If possible, read The Valiant before you start reading this. If you won’t because you’re just that stubborn, new readers will still be able to understand this book. Either way, it’s worth your time.

Making this book strangely relatable was a good move on Barbiere and Peterson’s part. Any form of entertainment that someone can imagine themselves in is one that is going to be a hit. That’s why we cry while watching movies or reading novels—not because it’s a sad story, but because we are picturing ourselves in that exact same situation (i.e. The Notebook). In a science fiction yet realistic story, both Barbiere and Peterson are able to evoke emotions out of the reader that just make them want to read more (honestly, I was upset when I got to the last page). This isn’t the easiest thing to do, so I recommend you read this book to see just how it’ll tug on your heart strings, and boggle your mind.

This book is one that I love to keep up with. The series is home to a unique and interesting plot that we ourselves can put our lives in to think of what choices we would make if put in Elena’s situation(s). There was some foreshadowing to the use of weaponry against Elena and her two friends, so we’ll have to read issue #3 to find out what happens!

Needless to say, this is worth the read. Despite the fact that we’ve read it and seen it in films before, it’s still a concept that we find interesting, and one that we won’t lose interest in any time soon. So, read this book as soon as you can, and with an open mind, too.

Overall, Ewing brings a lot of social issues  to his writing. More than the issues at hand, this book focuses on the individual characters. This isn’t something I see too often, but when I do, it’s like seeing a dog walk on its hind legs. I know you know the feeling; don’t even deny it. If you’re anything like me, and love reading about the individual characters in respect to one another, you have got to check this out—and let me know what you think!

This whole series feels like some sophisticated horror writing to me. Bunn doesn’t stick to slashers and poltergeists, because we’ve seen all that before. Instead, we get a multi-pronged, sub-texted story with a lot of elements within it: the concept of the “outsider,” the acceptance of one’s family, constant judgment, community service, respect for our elders, etc. The list goes on and on! This is truly what sophisticated horror is all about, and I come to love it more and more with every issue.

It’s not the most unique crime book I’ve read, but it’s one of the well-executed ones, and that’s more than enough to give it a read.

This is a great issue to start off the series. It has a really interesting premise, it’s futuristic yet strangely reflects modern day, and there is so much suspense—we’re going to see some action in this series, so keep reading to see it happen!

This issue is a great way to start off the series—and I’m not just saying that because I love monsters! Everything has been set up for us, and we’ve met all the significant characters we need to, in order to understand and enjoy the story line. I’m excited for this series, and I can’t wait to read more!

By the look of Gertrude’s face on the last page of this issue, I’m certain she is very pissed off. The question is: what is she going to do about it? I’m looking forward to finding out. Be sure to keep up with the series and see what happens to Fairyland with Gertrude in charge!

This is a great start to what I think is going to be a successful and interesting series. Williamson has set up a great basis for this story in terms of characters, a problem, and even some intense intrigue. I’m so excited to see where he takes it from here!

This is one of the rare times when I am more interested in the individuality of each character than the storyline as a whole. Morals, values, and even social interaction are big contributors to this book, and should be kept in mind while reading it. But overall, it’s a comic book; despite the fact that there are character shifts and themes to learn and all, it is meant to be enjoyed—I promise, you’ll enjoy it.

Shalvey’s artwork makes quite the impact, especially the nastiness of the last gory page. There is a healthy balance of colors and angles, making this book both fun to read and aesthetically pleasing. This book is for sci-fi fanatics, horror lovers, and overall comic book readers. So give it a chance to win you over! And let us know what you think of it.

This is a good start to an interesting series. I do love the concept of superheroes being regular, normal people with the same problems we have. I’ve always been a fan of Waid’s writing, and with this series alongside the All-New Archie, things are looking bright!

Invader Zim has been decent thus far, but I think the comic book will really do it some good. I’m pretty excited to see what Zim has up his sleeve (if anything; he’s a pretty bad Earth invader). We’ll have to keep up with the series to find out, so pick this up and read along!

Overall, this series is doing very well, just as the television show did. There are new interactions between characters that is looking good so far, and some familiar faces that we saw in the show as well. This is definitely a must-read for any Invader Zim fan out there.

Bottom line is, this series is going to be good. It seems a little weird, but that’s the point. Jonesy isn’t a Wonder Woman or a She-Hulk; she’s freaking Jonesy, man—she’s in her own category of super powered human. She seems like the kind of kid I would befriend in middle school, so I am stoked to go on this journey of a series with her, expecting great things.

This series is a fun comic that I recommend for anyone and everyone, no matter your age. The storyline is actually relatable to some extent, so it’s definitely worth the read. For anyone looking to read a lighthearted and fun story, this is it!

This is a great premiere issue. We know what’s going on, we’ve met our characters, and they have a mission. I’m more than stoked to go on the journey with them, and I can’t wait to see what else this creative team has to show us. For anyone who wants to read a good adventure story, this is it!

I have, however, been waiting a long time for Jughead to get his own series. Jug is by far my favorite character from the entire Archie series—all 666 issues of it. I’m really glad he gets all the attention now. I only hope the characters can maintain their personalities the whole series. I mean, Moose definitely seems dumber. Archie isn’t as girl-obsessed. But hopefully Jughead will keep his old, hungry self alive.

View Issue       View Full Review

Jughead is definitely taking a turn I wasn’t expecting.  Part of me hopes Jughead is right, and the principal is training them to be secret agents. I don’t see why he would, but Zdarsky is giving us a plot that goes far out on a limb. Keep up to see what’s happening to the kids of Riverdale!

Jughead is doing pretty darn well. There is a lot going on in this issue, but it’s only the beginning of what’s to come. If you haven’t started reading this series yet, get hip to it!

This is definitely a must-read for anyone who loves Jughead.

Millar is one of those writers that you literally can’t get sick of. His writing style is so fluid, so natural, and so smooth, that it just makes you feel comfortable. This series is one that is bound to have some seriously epic moments. A huge group of supervillains going against a huge group of superheroes that everyone [uncharacteristically] hates? That’s just good storytelling. Keep reading to watch the chaos unfold!

This is most definitely the best issue yet. It’s raw, emotional, telling, and just plain brutal. This series only has one issue left, so if you aren’t caught up, now is the time to read up and figure the story out. I’m not sure what I even expect out of the fourth and final issue, but I can tell you one thing: It’s going to be good.

View Issue       View Full Review

This is a great way to end the series. These four issues represent a lot of different things, depending on your perspective. Is it a series about the criminal justice system? The harsh conditions in American penitentiaries? Animal shelters that keep dogs and cats in cages, their only contact being with the hands that pet them (mirrored in the hands of the “guards”)? This series can be looked at in so many different ways, and that’s one of the things I love most about it. It’s a piece of art that leaves a lot up to the reader to figure out. I’m bummed that it’s over, but damn, what a ride it has been! This is definitely a series that I recommend you all read as soon as possible.

This is a great start to a promising series. Dylan has given us the history of how he became the murderous man he is today, and I can’t wait to see how Dylan handles his life from this point on. With a creative team like this, Kill or be Killed is a must-read.

This book is not only one of stereotypes and kids brought together so we can have fun watching them try to survive, but it brings issues and observations from our own lives, to the forefronts of our thoughts. We tend to let topics that need discussing slide by, while we talk about things that do not need as much attention, like materialism, or how many likes a photo of ours got on Instagram. These kids are being thrown into the basics of life: the wild. No cell phone service. No internet access. Just them, and a will to survive. No Mercy is both entertaining and eye-opening, teaching us a lesson I think we all need to learn. There are bigger and more important things than friend counts and reblogs and inbox numbers… This book is a must read, so go pick it up. Seriously, right now. Go. And tell me what you think of it. I actually hope they can blend in well so I can see what they’re like amidst the public, and how the public is amidst the zombies. That’ll be interesting to see. For now, this issue is definitely a good one.

I think being trapped in the open would be terrifying"especially if the open is saltwater with all kinds of monsters and sharks and strong waves. Granted, I'm terrified of drowning, but it would still be disturbing, at the least. Lang and McKinley take an old concept and put an exciting twist on it in Plunder, making a thriller of a comic book that you should pick up as soon as possible (even if you do need the bucket).

I am definitely glad I read this issue, and I'm looking forward to more of Plutona already. The people at Image don't seem to ever rest, putting out comic after comic. This is one of the newer ones, and I hope it gets time to be properly fleshed out. So far we have some suburban kids just hanging out. Having been raised in the suburbs, I understand their pain of monotony. But they finally get some adventure. Who knows where it'll take them? Wherever it is, I'm eager to go with them!

It’s really amazing to let us see the story from Plutona’s side as well as the kids’ side. I get the feeling that things are going to get really intense from here. If ever there was a time to jump on board and give this series a read, it’s now.

Supposedly, Power Man and Iron Fist aren’t back together. After this encounter with Lonnie and Jennie’s betrayal (which I’m sure they’ll find out about soon enough), the duo will probably be making a comeback—and I can’t wait to see it!

This is becoming one of my favorites. I’m excited to see whether Power Man and Iron Fist actually get Heroes for Hire back together. I really hope they do; they work so well together. I’m also curious as to see what the heck Jennie plans to do with the Supersoul Stone’s power. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

For any fan of Aliens, Predator, or Prometheus, this series is a must-read. It is set in a certain time, so it helps to have watched the movies, but you don’t need to in order to understand the premise. This is going to be a great sci-fi series; these Marines are bound to get into some trouble with this god-like creature walking around, and I can’t wait to see how they handle it.

Moore turns away from horror in the first issue, but sets it up for future issues, so I’m staying on top of this series. He creates an intelligent and sophisticated story about the press, culture, history, and even sociology. This is definitely one to keep your eye on.

The creative team definitely shows a lot of talent and imagination. Although this issue has a few inconsistencies, it is definitely well-done. The issue re-introduces the Punisher without changing him, but putting him in some new circumstances. Any The Punisher fan should definitely check this out. I think this series is going to be well worth the read.

This is an amazing issue that helps set up what will be the finale to the series. There is drama, action, surprise, intrigue, and so much more. I am more than ready for the next issue. I'm sad to see the series come to a close, but after Moore's previous successes, I have no doubt that there is more genius to come.

All in all, this series is revving up for something big. Hopefully we get to see what that is next issue. Now, it looks like Red Skull and Magneto have a chance at overthrowing God Doom, and that’s kind of a scary thought, at least for the rest of Battleworld. I was hooked with issue #1, and #2 has just made me more excited about the plotline. Keep reading to see what happens!

While you don’t necessarily have to have read the first “season” of this series, it does help to understand things a bit more, especially why Eddie and Trudy act the way they do/why they’re given crappy jobs on the task force. It’ll be really interesting to see how they both conduct this new case they’ve taken over. This is a great way to start the new series; I’m really excited that Eddie and Trudy are back and just as awesome as they were in the first series of Red Team. Ennis is sure to give us some nice plot twists, turns, surprises, and action. Keep reading to see what kind of mayhem these two NYPD cops get themselves into!

I’ve been looking forward to this series, where Red Wolf is the protagonist. Allison Strejlau (“My Own Private Gumball Part 3”) and Derek Fridolfs (“The Roll-Out”) illustrate the stories fantastically with bright colors and expressive characters. Both make for two fun and inviting stories. If you’re looking for a lighthearted plot, pick up Regular Show. You’ll get even doses of innocence and mischievousness. These two troublemaking friends will not disappoint you.

What I have always loved about Regular Show is that it is not one connecting storyline. You can pick up issue #21 without having read #1-20, and still know what is going on. It’s just a fun book for a good laugh, and it will never let you down.

This issue is a pretty good one. There isn’t a lot of character development (just a little). Reyn and Seph have something good going, which I hope stays. Stockman’s artwork keeps the action consistent and aesthetically pleasing. It lets the mind wander, imagine the possibilities of what’s out there, see interpretations of what aliens might look like, etc. This book is a great way to let the mind do that wandering so crucial to a healthy imagination. Whether you’re already there or need to open up the possibilities for yourself a little more, Citizen of the Galaxy is the way to go.

This series has been really entertaining thus far. A bunch of historical figures have gotten together to see what went on before the Spanish-American War (of course, they don’t know the war is going to happen just yet). This is an awesome concept and a brilliant way to showcase some history that people aren’t necessarily aware of. For any history buff and adventure comic lover, this series is a must-read.

This book has an original concept for Secret Wars, and Stevenson does a fine job of making the readers actually give a crap about what’s going on in the story arc. As innocent as this book seems, it’s really not—and I can’t wait to see where Stevenson takes it.

There are still questions to be answered, but I am sure Stevenson will take care of that soon enough. This issue definitely hints to the down side of having Victor Von Doom be God of Battleworld. Overall, this issue sets up the series for a pretty linear storyline. It isn’t anything too original, but it’s a good plot nonetheless. The fact that it is in a futuristic setting gives the story a bit of an edge, too. I expect good things from this series, and can’t wait to read more!

his story is wonderful, and darkly twisted"my favorite! Just like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, or Starve, or any other comic series that involves lots of knives, this story is beautifully gloomy, especially with the artwork. Marks' artwork has a watercolor style to it, and a general palate of red and black, with some in between, like dull pinks here and there. Was this done to resemble blood? Or, maybe, Sinister is just a red wine kind of guy. He does, after all, have the luminescent red eyes to match.

This is a really awesome, dark comic book. The series has a really good tone of mystery and suspense. The writing is amazing, with brilliant characterization. This book has insane character development, in scenarios that some of us know all too well. Cindy isn’t a seasoned superhero or veteran crime fighter, either. She’s just a girl who got bitten by a spider, and now she’s making the most of it. She also has a special place in her heart for kids who have been in the same situation as her growing up. This book is more sci-fi than horror, but I think the horror is coming in issue two and beyond, judging by the last page of issue one. What will happen to history if Teddy does not rectify the anomaly? There is so much to come, and we’re only one issue in. So if you’re interested, now is the time to get on board this story arc and read along for a fun and awesome adventure.

Ryan and Marquez are back working together on another amazing Joyners storyline. Watching the realistic nature of these characters is breathtaking. There isn’t a lot of detail or extraneous facets to this issue, and I’m hoping the rest of the series is the same way. For anyone who is looking to delve into the human condition, this series is definitely for you. Beyond that, if you can respect great writing and really telling artwork, you can’t pass this issue up.

This is a really great series so far. I’m looking forward to seeing how George takes advantage of his newest invention. It sucks to see corporate companies competing, just because we sort of see that every day, but this series takes things to a personal level—so it’s more interesting than the everyday corporate tomfoolery (that is usually more than just the “tomfoolery” on the surface). Above all else, I hope we get some serious character development out of George. With Ryan’s writing, I’m sure it’s not far off now.

This is a really interesting way to look at the Ninth Wave, as opposed to how they all are in The Massive. I think we can expect a lot of action and a lot of conviction in this series. This might just become one of my new favorites!

This is a great first issue with little flaws that I see (aside from Barbiere's name being misspelled on the first page). It's a solid story line, and I'm a sucker for anything steampunk, so this is definitely one to keep up with.

This issue is a great addition to the series. The plot should start to get really intense from here. I’m most curious about how the Academy will go about regulating the steam in the city. Steampunk is a really great genre, especially for a comic book. The visuals as well as the societal functions make this series an awesome read. Check it out as soon as you can!

Treehouse of Horror is an awesome book, but part of me really wishes there was more horror to this Halloween special. Don't get me wrong; this is a really amazing book with really awesome references, but it could use more Halloween themes, that's all. Overall, though, this is a very successful Treehouse of Horror.

It’s really interesting to watch Claudius make every decision that he does. It’s a weird form of really good characterization. This and Ziritt’s artwork grab attention like crazy! There is an interesting, unrealistic color palette. This and an unrealistic world make it a sort of cyber punk related story that really stands out. This is definitely a series to keep track of.

This series is shaping up to be really great. I’m excited to see the Hulk go up against so many characters. The cast in this series is amazing, with a really eclectic bunch. Pak and Cho are the perfect creative team for a series like this, and I can’t wait for more!

Negan is definitely going to be the main focus of The Walking Dead at this point, especially since he claims he is in love with the Alpha. This is definitely an issue you can’t skip.

I have a lot of questions after reading this issue. We see a few references to Dean’s father, who is in prison. Why is he there? Does is have to do with Dean? Did Dean grow up without a dad? I’m really curious about his family, so I hope we get to see that. What about Kimiko? How did they meet? How long have they been together? Is Abby going to get between them? Why are so many people after Dean? There is so much to touch on, but the creative team will, I’m sure, make things a bit more understandable for us. For now, though, pick up this issue from your local comic shop, and keep up with this awesome story!

Overall, this issue is a great introduction and start to the series. Scott takes us right into the action, and we even get to see battle! From what I can tell, this is a very promising series—and not just because it’s based off of a world-famous play.

This is a really good issue, showing us the real-life problems that She-Hulk needs to face. Marvel is doing an awesome job of filling us in on what our favorite heroes do when they aren't saving the world. All this Duck business has reminded me how much I miss my youth. Characters like Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, and Porky Pig make up some of the Looney Tunes, which I lived for back in the day, along with the old shows on Nickelodeon and Tom & Jerry. I can tell you right now, today is going to be a nostalgic day for me—and I love it. Although I can’t go back in time or be a little kid anymore, it’s healthy for everyone to think back on the things that made us happy has kids. So pick this up and get ready!

This issue is well written and well drawn, but I was kind of hoping for some more momentum. Because this is the first issue, I understand why not too much happened—but we do feel a ton of intrigue. This is a really interesting concept, and I’m pretty stoked to see where it goes from here.

For the first issue, and being a 40-page issue, this is almost unbelievably good. I hope, though, that Vaughan brings us some more characterization, and soon. There’s a lot going well, but there’s a lot going wrong, too. It’s a good plot that everyone can relate to, with an “us vs. them” mentality, but the writing isn’t quite there yet. There is definitely room for amazing writing to come, and here’s hoping that we see it. The artwork, however, for a debut issue, is phenomenal. This is definitely a series to keep your eye on.

Overall, I’d say that Wagner and Schkade tried their hardest to do justice to Eisner’s classic character, but they probably found it difficult. This is, without a doubt, a good and enjoyable comic book. No re-make will beat Eisner’s work, though, and this issue seems a little out of place, with the lingo and even physical appearances that it uses. At the end of the day, yes, I recommend this book to all of you. But like I said, first time The Spirit readers will enjoy it more than the rest of us; keep this in mind. I leave you with that.

This is a really amazing series that caught my attention from issue #1. Wolf is a series that pushes the boundaries of storytelling and artwork. Kot and Taylor stretch the word “genre” to its limit, and show us what happens when they do it. This is definitely one to stick around for.

The creative team has undoubtedly done an amazing job with this issue. The series as a whole is a really unique and almost relatable concept. I’m sure we’ve all felt like we’re not good enough, at some point in our lives. It’s not a good feeling. Bemis is able to take a universal feeling and apply it to some iconic superheroes. Or, mutants. Either way, this issue is definitely one to check out for any X-Men fan.

View Issue       View Full Review

This storyline is a really quirky, fun spin-off of X-Men. We’ve seen characters get mad that they have the powers they have, like Rogue for example, but not to this degree. Bailey is a truly unique X-Man with a huge confliction in his life. How will he handle it when standing face-to-face with Magneto, the leader of the evil mutants? We’ll have to keep reading to find out!

So, the worst X-Man ever turned out to be the one that saved the rest. This is a great—and satisfying—end to the miniseries. This issue has a bit of a different tone than the rest, and it progresses in a different manner. I’m not going to give that stuff away because you need to experience it for yourself. I’ll just say that Bailey has gotten older, and his thought process proves that. The script is amazing, interesting, and enthralling. This issue is definitely worth the read.

Seeing that Arcudi is leaving the B.P.R.D. team next year, I'd certainly hope he'd go out with a bang, and close up this story arc with some really amazing conclusions, as well as answers. This is a really simple issue that really doesn’t contribute all too much to the overall story arc. The only thing that might move things forward is when Ashley says she might go back to the B.P.R.D. This comic has a really eerie tone to it, which is typical of the Hellboy franchise’s books. It truly does depict Hell on Earth, but it’s contained. Nothing too chaotic happened, so I’m kind of bummed about that. The creative team, however, did a fantastic job with this issue’s execution, so I’m pretty happy. For any and all fans of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D., this is a must-read.

This series brings up two very important but often overlooked issues: War and mental illness. They are not always together but, when they are, it gets you right in the heart. So, if you’re interested in these concepts, this book was made for you. This is a very solid first issue, and I can’t wait to read more!

This is a great introduction to the series. We don't get too much information, but just enough that Pruett reels us in with the "what if" of it all. This is a great tie-in to Marvel’s summer event that is Civil War II. I’m stoked to see how everything fits together. I actually hope we see more of Damage Control. The only thing that throws me off about this issue is the cover. We have Iron Man, Captain Marvel, the Hulk, Deadpool, Captain America, She-Hulk, the Vision, and all the big heroes that you all know about—but they are nowhere in the issue. The few times they appear, it’s only for a panel or two at a time. That’s a bit deceptive, but the issue is worth a read.

Sugar seems to think them not escaping is Pickles’ fault (that’s the head cat). I believe it. I’m looking forward to some kind of showdown next issue. Keep reading to see what these angry inmates will get themselves into next!

If you can, pick up this issues for your own good. Lady Killer is a fun and crime-filled comic book, and the action is just getting started.

View Issue       View Full Review

Jenkins and Daley jump right into the action, without too much introduction, making the reader automatically get sucked into the story. It’s a powerful book about oppression and social issues that are all too real on the page and off of it. If you’re into steampunk, I recommend it. If you like good artwork, I recommend it. If you like powerful stories, I recommend it. So give it a shot!

The creative team has, overall, done a great job on this issue. There’s a lot of action, and the exposition has set up a really great storyline for the rest of this series. This story might be based on characters from The Wizard of Oz, but it stands just fine alone as an adventurous, exciting, new, and unique story.

This is shaping up to be a pretty solid series. The plot isn't too original, but we're only at the first issue, so who knows what could happen? It's a good story, but I'm really hoping the plot thickens from here. Either way, this is a really good issue with a lot of great elements to it"definitely worth the read.

Although we don’t get much adventure or supernatural beings in this issue, it is still a great issue, filled with tons of relationships to be made. If you still haven’t read any Lumberjanes, I advise you start as soon as possible, for your own good.

The end of this issue foreshadows some really cool stuff next issue, and I can’t wait to read it. This issue has done a good job in moving the plot along and providing some humorous undertones. All in all, I really like this series, as well as this issue in particular, so check it out!

Portal fiction is a great type of story to read if you’re interested in seeing new worlds, new creatures, new problems, solutions, and just to escape reality. I must commend Ha on taking on the huge task of starting a portal fiction piece, accepting the opportunity to create an entirely new world/dimension. This fantasy genre is a really interesting one, with new and unique concepts in terms of design and plot. I can’t wait to see more of the place that Abbie came back from!

View Issue       View Full Review

This is definitely the type of book for all you fantasy fans out there. It has a bit of sci-fi thrown in, as well. Ha is probably one of the best storytellers I know and whose work I have the pleasure of reading while here at ComicWow! I most definitely recommend this issue, and series as a whole, to anyone looking for a good, interesting, entertaining read.

This is a great story for any fantasy genre fans out there. The creation of new worlds has always interested us, whether it’s in Star Wars, Avatar, Battleworld, or something else. It’s a difficult thing to master, but Ha has done a fine job of making this adventure purposeful, interesting, and fun. Keep reading to see if Mae and Abbie can save their father!

This is a great issue for any Avengers fan. It is more towards the cartoonish side (I mean, it was taken from a cartoon show), so it doesn't have as much dramatic/aesthetic appeal as other Avengers books I've seen. Nonetheless, it's a wonderful story that has the Avengers learning what it means to be a team again.

I’m waiting for Robin to go head to head with the Sheriff of Nottingham.  There isn’t too much suspense just yet, so I’m really hoping that Rodi gives us a reason to be interested in these characters. I want to want them to win. This is a modern story set in an older time period. It’s a really great concept, and I can’t wait to read more!

This is a great story about one man trying to overcome his inner demons and get his life together—starting with his relationship. Honestly, at this point, I don’t even know if Patricia is good for Joel, but I want him to be happy. He’s been through a lot of Hell, and it’s about time life eased up on him. Keep reading to see if Joel is able to bounce back from his isolation and alcoholism!

This is a really great concept, and an awesome storyline. With interesting plots comes predictability, often times. I have faith in Andreyko to not fall into that pit of predictability, but it is easy to, especially with a story concept as entertaining as this. This is definitely a comic book to be keeping up with, and with the awesomeness that has come out of it so far, one to start reading if you haven’t already.

Needless to say, this series is picking up some serious momentum. I’m looking forward to whatever showdown is about to happen between Ben and Ambro. If you are, too, keep reading to find out what happens!

Regardless of small inconsistencies in the artwork, this series is fun to read. Now that the group has split up, it’ll be interesting to see where everyone ends up, and if Charlene ever gets pushed off the edge by her douche brother Chad—dude needs to chill out on the insults. I will leave you with this: if you’re interested in reading about teenagers from the current generation, this book is for you. It’s a good story, and an all-around great time.

In short, this issue is a great way to start off a really weird-but-cool series. Again, it’s not for people who are easily offended. You’ve got to be able to stomach the imaginative ways that children come up with to kill people, as well as some sociologically stereotypical jokes. If you can handle that much, this series is going to be really entertaining. Silas has done an awesome job creating some disturbingly funny material, and I cannot wait to see more.

This issue is a great way to carry on the plot. There are a lot of aspects to the storyline that are just waiting to be weaved together. If I were you, I'd stick around to see what they look like in the end. This is an awesome piece of science fiction, and a very entertaining read.

The horror and pirate aspects mix together perfectly in Plunder to create a gory and violent story that’s fun for the blood-and-guts fans. If you haven’t read it yet, you’re missing out.

Overall, this issue is kind of the climax of the series. I’m really glad Mie and Ray got to see what Tugger was up to in the woods. It didn’t end as I expected, but hey, it makes for a good story! The end of the series is coming up, so be sure to see what happens!

I can tell that this series is going to be a good one. Not only is it written in the cleverest of manners, but it makes the reader(s) think about more than just the storyline. Any book that is capable of doing that is okay by me. For anyone interested in social issues, this is a great book for you.

Any ‘90s kid can’t pass this up. We’re in our 20s now, but Powerpuff Girls means just as much to us now as it did back when we were kids. This is a great read for any fan of the supergirl trio, and even Mojo Jojo. I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of him… Keep reading for more action, adventure, and cuteness!

This book hasn’t really gone anywhere thus far, but seeing the background of a character is important to the story, too. I think Hernandez was looking to provide us with some characterization and depth to Shine in this issue, and that he has accomplished. Now that it’s out of the way, he has room to tell us a fun and interesting story. Hopefully issue #3 will give us just that.

As much as I loved this book, I did find myself just a little confused, or that I was missing something. There is a “the story so far” paragraph included, but this is the kind of book you need to keep up with. It’s not a new story every issue, but one intricate plot that you need to be attentive towards. Nonetheless, it is still a very entertaining storyline that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a good read.

This is a great issue to add to the second Red Team series. Eddie and Trudy are in charge of quite the case, and they have a plan. Implementing that plan, however, might not be as easy as they thought. Keep up with this series to see if they can make sense of this case and get Eric off the hook!

These two stories, while different in context, have the same premise. Both take Mordecai and Rigby into different worlds, both show them a lesson, both use the secondary characters very well, etc. This is definitely an issue I’d recommend to any and all Regular Show fans.

This is a great addition to the series. This issue was just one big joke to pile on the existing humor of the issue. Stories like this one are fun, and show us a lot more when it comes to characterization—we learn more about Rocket’s past. This is a great short story for kids, and will spark their imaginations about monsters, aliens, and animals. For a lighthearted, laid back issue, this won’t let you down!

This series went from cute to intriguing to awesome to satisfying. All four issues offered something for us readers. This issue quickly and seamlessly tied all loose ends, finishing off what was an incredibly entertaining series. If you missed it, I recommend reading this series for anyone into the crime/mystery/vigilante genres of books. The creative team did a wonderful job with this series… Enjoy!

Guggenheim gives us secrecy, as many of the team members have secret affiliations and alliances they’re not willing to put in public. This causes a lot of tension between characters, which is actually a really good thing. It makes for some really great character dynamics. He also gives us some superhuman sex, villain battles, and an extremely character-driven storyline. This tie-in has more depth and character development than I’ve seen in a while. This is an incredibly engrossing book that’s definitely worth the read.

This post-apocalyptic setting is great for the stoic characters that fuel the story inside of it. It seems like these animals are going through a lot and getting ready for battle, so it’ll be really interesting to see how they work in big groups and what allies they make. This is definitely a series to check out.

This is a good series overall, but so far it is simply paraphrasing the film’s script. For anyone who hasn’t seen the film, this might be entertaining. But for those of us who have, it gets a little monotonous. I’m really hoping that Wendig puts some original concepts and themes into the storyline, because this series desperately needs it. Nonetheless, this series is well worth the read for any Star Wars fan. It tells a very important story of the search for Luke Skywalker. The Resistance and the First Order are going to have some beef, so you’d best stick around to see when and how it goes down!

There are adults who haven’t grasped the message of this story, but writer Grace Kraft and illustrator Kelly Turnbull get out a moral lesson in just a few pages. Besides the nostalgia, this story is spreading positivity, to get up when you’re knocked down. This is the story that emphasizes the father-son relationship more than any others, even the parent-child relationship. It’s something we all love and yearn for, but often times don’t get. Not to mention, it’s pretty cool that Greg Universe got his own series special. I’m going to recommend this for people of all ages, and tell you right now that it’s one of the cutest books you will read.

This series has started off in a pretty good way. The story, though not completely original, is engaging and insightful. Jordan is comfortable writing a series like this, so we can expect a lot of really good dialogue to come, and hopefully some twists and turns in between all that. This comic book is definitely for the sci-fi fan. We’ve seen bounty hunters before, but never like this. Nina and Georgie are trying to get back on their feet after being captured and starting their lives over again, so it should be fun to watch them figure things out.

Despite some missing uniformity, this book follows a good storyline that is both interesting and attention-grabbing. It does seem to mimic some of the movies about the same general premise and art forms in the past few years, but who ever said that’s a bad thing? If it works, flaunt it! If you can’t get this book right away, it’s okay, but do keep an eye out for any interesting developments to come.

All in all, this is a pretty good start to the series. We have our protagonist and we know that her life is about to change a lot. How it’s going to change is implied but never clearly stated, so I’m a bit curious as to where Milligan is going to take the plot from here. If you’re interested in some insanely erotic storytelling, definitely check this issue out.

This series is slowly but surely becoming one of the most interesting science fiction stories I’ve read in a while. Part of me wishes that Z didn’t have a regen program, just so there’s the threat of elimination. It’d be interesting to see how he handles himself differently (if at all). Either way, seeing as how Z is wanted everywhere, I’m curious to see what he does next. Keep reading to find out!

I usually like to stay out of political talk, but the social issues raised in this book as well are what drew me in, automatically. Waltz and Maloney take real-life issues and put them into a fictional story to show everyone the truth. Also, explosions. I recommend you pick up a copy and open your mind before you start reading.

Fell has done a brilliant job with this premiere issue of what I’m guessing will be a very interesting series. Seeing as Rosalind is such a rebel, I can only imagine what she’s going to do, or even think, when she faces Thomas. This is some familial drama-based stuff, and my scandalous side loves it! This is definitely well worth the read.

This issue isn’t as good as the first one, but if you’re into fast paced humor, this has a lot of it! The plot is going by very slowly, so hopefully Cornell can give us a little more meat to push the plot next time. For the time being, we have a very silly, funny, and enjoyable story.

This is a great way to start the series, even though "Frankenstein" in the title is really misleading. I'm really excited to see how the story turns out, seeing as we left the characters being mauled by Mothman. Liesel will make it out, I'm sure"she's the title character. It'll be cool to see just how much fighting she can handle. Keep reading to see what happens!

This is a really interesting issue to add to the X-Men title. It’s a lot less dramatic than the rest. Even so, Bailey will have a pretty interesting role here. I feel as though his gift will come in handy later in the series, and I can’t wait to see it. For now, we’ll have to find out who the heck snuck into the school! This is definitely a good series for any and all X-Men fans. It’s a different perspective than we’ve seen, which is new and very intriguing.

This issue is getting really intense right about now. I’m so ready to see Bailey step up and defend the X-Men. I really REALLY hope that Bemis doesn’t turn things around and make Bailey join forces with Magneto.
