Delve into the unique dynamic between Sin and the Kingpin as they storm Hell's Kitchen. We get a rare glimpse into Fisk's mind and bear witness to his relentless attacks. While this is Daredevil's Giant-Size issue, Fisk is the one calling the shots, leaving you to ponder his motives for luring DD in. This interlude to the Introductory Rites story arc hopefully ramps the excitement for the rest of the adventure.

The ruse of Superman on Superman is just not enough to carry this issue and story arc any further. 10 months for this odyssey to complete is a big ask. There are redeeming qualities like the situation between Lois and Lex Luthor, the fantastic art by Weeks and Pagulayan, and Superman seeking help. Still, this issue shows that this will read better as a collected edition since the time wait is taken out.

The mysteries from the Lost Children and the Thirteen are getting some answers and interactions, which is excellent. Yet, with each revelation, there is a new situation. Johns, Janin, and Bellaire entertain with the Golden Age Red Lantern and connections to Alan Scott. What will be Ruby's ultimate choice be in our current timeline, and could she prove Huntress wrong about her future JSA team? The revelations will keep readers in suspense.

Daredevil #15 is an enjoyable character piece that adds some great elements and sets up future issues. It would be great to get some resolution, but at least there are moving moments as Daredevil makes a confession. It's a fascinating idea to have Matt Murdock take on the Seven Deadly Sins, who have possessed many from his world, but we're on part 15 of this long arc, making it quite the trial of endurance.

Dark Crisis: Worlds Without A Justice League #1: Superman is a fun exploration of growing pains with a Super Father raising a Super Son. We see how Clark would've reacted to Jon's years spent growing up. We see how much Clark missed by being robbed of that time with Jon.

The problems facing John Stewart and the GLC unite to bring about a huge challenge for the heroes. Will they have enough Light to stop Evil's Might? Degaton vs the JSA and Huntress is the wildcard! New mysteries arise to trouble our heroes, characters are explored, and just how powerful is Degaton? Huntress starts to explore more of the DC landscape and tempts fate with her interactions.

Geoff Johns and Marco Santucci bring us a heaping of characters for the JSA to interact with. When we get some information, there seems to be another door opening, and it will be quite the task to give these classic and new characters enough screen time for this era of the Justice Society to make an impact. The issue drives the story forward but doesn't hit like previous ones have before.

View Issue       View Full Review

Seeing the JSA in action is exciting, but this issue reads too quickly, leaving you with quite the build-up of emotions. The rift between the team concerning the Golden Age Legionnaire has such potential for character drama, but it is cut short by the cliffhanger ending. Hopefully, the following two issues will be rich and timely so that the New Golden Age can end this arc on a high note.

Knight Terrors #2 continues the story and gives funny banter between Deadman and Sandman while sprinkling in some clues, but it reads like a quick issue. It is enlightening to get some backstory on the Nightmare Stone and Insomnia with a tease of the Sleepless Knights, but some more action would've sealed the deal on this issue.

Nightwing #75 is a good issue, worth a read to see the next leg of Dick's journey. The heart is there, but it does feel a little lackluster at times. There are great character moments, but this issue is rather slow. Just when the pace picks up, we find out the wait will continue.

Strong epilogue with some strangeness from Kraven at the end, but I'm glad to see the story stick the landing, possible threats with the Savage Six and Chameleon, and Pete and MJ for a moment.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual 2023 hits all the right notes as the leading players intersect. Hallows' Eve is getting the perfect voice to tell Spider-Man she is tired of him dragging her down and preventing her happiness. Fun issue with some much deserved down time for the Avengers. Deep looks into the thoughts of the team members, lots of bonding, and some foreshadowing before we get into the next arc, "Challenge of the Ghost Riders."

Part two of the Riders arc does a good job to continue driving the story by introducing a fierce challenge for the Avengers. We are starting to see the Ghost Riders interact with each other and a dive into their history.

Batman #98 features some great moments, but lacks that adrenaline punch that the first two parts had. Hopefully, this mid-arc lull will lead to an epic conclusion to "Joker War". Alfred saves the day at a bittersweet cost to us, and Harley vs. Punchline was surprisingly enjoyable.

What a way to turn 60 years old and not look stale; the current creative team shares the anniversary with classic and new creators. Introductory Rites adds layers to Murdock's struggles, making the wait harder as interest builds. The added characters are more good stuff in this wild buffet. The extra adventures take us to eras of Daredevil that should bring a smile to any era fan's face. Here's to more than 60 years of the Man Without Fear!

Excellent fight choreography carries the issue as Bullseye squares up to the Daredevils. Punishment awaits as fists, feet, and faces all meet. The Sins take a breather in this issue as we get a reunion that long-time fans will enjoy. The issue is enjoyable overall, but it does feel a bit like a filler issue with how long this story arc has been. It is still worth picking up, but it does keep the wait lingering as answers and confrontations await.

Flashpoint Beyond #1 is an entertaining issue that helps drive along what is happening in the world of Flashpoint and gives purpose to Thomas Wayne's actions. Stunning art helps keep you turning the pages of mystery as to who the Clockwork Killer is and what their motivations are.

I can't wait for next issue's conclusion and to see how this all shakes out and leads to the new Ghost Rider series. This issue really did a great job of moving the story along and also peeling back the curtain to get us wondering who the villain will be.

This is an exciting and entertaining opening issue. While it might be treading old ground, the creative team has found a way to make it exciting by updating with style and content while keeping the original stories' timelessness. Mark Waid gives us interesting headspace with Batman's thoughts, while Samnee and Lopes stimulate adventure with their heavenly style. Some great touchstones happen again, but there is enough new material to keep you returning for more.

This is a better trip down memory lane! Updating the formative years of the Dynamic Duo is an excellent time within this series. It is such entertainment to see how these two are so different and how they come together. DCeased: Dead Planet #5 is a great issue with consistent art and story.
