CesarCastanha's Profile

AMJ #1 was really good. I started reading ASM in my teens during the One More Day storyline. I loved those issues that were just these long arguments between MJ and Peter, so much so that I got to learn every line of hers by heart. So AMJ #1 hits close to home.

I didn't actually like it that much. But I think it's necessary to go against this hate-motivated rating. I agree with some of the critics I read here, the issue relies too much on the character coolness, and this character doesn't need that. The first issue was way better.

There's SO much I like about this comic. The character's development, for example, and how it matches the political intensity of the story in a subtle way (or at least the most subtle way possible for a story like this one). But it's the presence of the Harlem that hits me most deeply. Misty says she rather take the bus to remember herself she lives in a city. The comic book, in its story and its art, really shows that they are living in a city and not - as most comics -, in a bunch of separated locations and headquarters. The slow-pacing of the story is at point, bringing us to the profound displacement of the characters. As far as I can tell, it's a masterpiece.

Honestly, I love this. I think Wong pretty much gets the assignment

That was an unbelievable improvement on the series. The writing is a bit darker, which put the characters in a more nuanced light. And the very strange art of the series finally showed its purpose, as it played its role in the oddness of the story. I'm now very excited about this series.

Are people crazy enough not to see how rare and amazing this book is?

Instant classic

This is one hell of a homage to Kirby and one of the best comics of the year.

uow.

I wish Star Wars comics were always like this

It's a great conclusion for the volume, which ended up being one strong addition to the Star Wars mythology. Although we already have way too many Clone Wars' stories out there (and few of them are in any way inventive), seldom do we get this kind of reflection on what the war meant to the jedi order and its contradictions.

This was just beautiful.

If one reader wished to bring his X-men experience to a closure, this could be the final Storm issue, and this could be the final Destiny issue. It's that good.

It feels like "The Last Picture Show", like if a Sofia Coppola movie had a superhero plot.

This is what the x-universe is about.

Crazy to think this is someone's first time writing a comic book

I love how this issue is pretty much the X-force team just going around and asking themselves "does this still have a point?"

I loved this first issue, it's so much better than the other new X-men comics. It's still silly, like the others, but now it really feels like it's supposed to be silly.

That's one hell of a way to end a mini

I love this series. It doesn't use the group of characters getting together as an excuse for a never-ending crossover, but instead it actually gets to develop them one by one, through their relationship with each other.

God, that's good! Great issue, the whole adventure feels like a good 80's blockbuster, but totally up to date.

the icemen scene broke my heart

I'll just get this out of my way: Marc Guggenheim's run was... not very good. But this finale was almost perfect. This is what the X-men are about. They are not a military legion like Avengers, or free entrepeneurs of science and adventure, like the Fantastic Four. They have been persecuted and their cause often seems pointless, and that's what make them such a good team to follow. It's not about being a hero, it's about their (often unbearable) struggle for solidarity.

It has some weak moments, especially at the first issues, but it reveals itself to be extremely well written and original as the big story starts to develop. Both lead characters are wonderfully constructed.

And I should say Conan is really not my cup of tea

I really enjoyed this! I didn't really went for the character before. It just seemed like they made the least interesting x-men gay just so he would have any singularity about him. But I really found this comic to be well-written, full of heart, entertaining. I hope it stays that way.

I miss Harley, but wow.

This whole story doesn't make any sense and it feels like they are making a huge effort to find adventures for the Star Wars characters between the New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back narratives. But they are such good characters to have around, and I have such a great time reading the series that it kinds of make me forget of everything else.

I loved the plot twist, and it got me more excited for the new Phoenix arc than the first issue of the actual new serie.
