Can we use this comment as a petition to change this website back to the way it was? This new design is beyond atrocious. The mobile version is especially difficult to navigate (and there's no search bar at the top). There also seems to be a problem with the average rating for series' where it's not calculating the actual average for all issues. For example, Gotham Central (which I'm currently reading) previously had an average user rating of 9.1 for the whole series, but it has since dropped down to a 6.9 for no discernible reason. And that series is not the only one affected. I don't know what happened, but this update is garbage, and that's not just a knee-jerk reaction to change. It legitimately sucks. Anyway, sign this comment if you agree. Or maybe you disagree, in which case...I'm happy you're happy.

I haven't actually read this yet, but I noticed the average user scores shot up all of a sudden, and then I noticed a strange number of 10 out of 10 ratings from several accounts who have only reviewed this issue and nothing else, created the same day they reviewed it. Hmm... hard to get an accurate idea of whether it's actually good or not with these types of shenanigans going on.

Art is the only positive.

Honestly... I've absolutely loved X of Swords so far. But this... this was bad. It's not just that it was weird... it was just, not good at all. The tone didn't match any of what we've seen so far. The kickoff of the tournament was incredibly anticlimactic. Why was Jubilee even there? And a wedding instead of a sword fight? What the f. Only saving grace is Noto's art.

Bullseye just gave up and started crying? Pretty stupid resolution if you ask me. And Black Widow being used as a damsel in distress is also really dumb. This is one comic that doesn't hold up today. Only saving grace is Miller's art.

This wasn't great. Art was good, writing was pretty bad. A fairly soulless retelling of the FF's origins that failed to justify its existence. Unlike the X-Men: Season One story, which felt fresh and modern while also reading like a tribute to those earliest comics, this felt bland and uninspired, failing at both revitalizing AND honoring the FF's origins.

This was bananas, not sure if it's in a good way yet.

"Ladies and gentle-theys"? The hell does that even mean? You can say ladies but not gentlemen? Other than that enormously stupid line, this was decent. I hope this story finds some semblance of purpose at some point though...if it's just mindless gore and wisecracks for 5 issues, that would be disappointing.

I don't know man...it's all just explosions and quippy jokes about female body parts. I'm not really seeing the appeal. I also find it funny how a lot of feminists will complain about men objectifying women, but then some of those same feminists will turn around and write issues like this where a character flashes her tig ol' bitties for hundreds of cheering vampires.

More of the same. Williams doesn't do a great job of giving these characters unique voices; they all talk and act exactly the same, like absolute bimbos.

Reading this, I felt insulted on behalf of women everywhere and anyone who enjoys good stories. Laura saying "It's beer-o'clock sluts!" honestly made me want to throw up. It's possibly the most out-of-character moment I've ever read in comics, and it perfectly encapsulated this mini-series. The only slight positive in this whole book was that the art wasn't bad. The story? Nonsensical. The writing? Cringe-inducing. The characterization? Non-existant. Do yourself a favour and avoid this at all costs.

This wasn't quite as good as I had hoped it would be. It wasn't bad by any stretch, it was just...okay. The art was the best part of this book; it was stunning. The writing however was pretty stale in my opinion, and like other reviewers, I found the pacing a bit off. Things moved a little too quickly at times, and we'd often jump around with little to no buildup or warning. It was a serviceable but somewhat uninspired GL origin story.

I feel bad rating a book that most people seemed to really enjoy so low, but for me personally the writing was just really, really bland...I found it so difficult to care about anything that was happening by the end. The dialogue felt stiff and unrealistic, the story was muddled and the pacing was off, and the characters had no depth to them; not even Hal. The only bright spot in this book was the art, which was very good. I was really disappointed in this. I wanted to enjoy it, but I just couldn't.

This was decent. Basic Punisher-tries-to-kill-bad-guy-while-Daredevil-tries-to-stop-him-from-killing-bad-guy type story. Art was good, but duplicated panels are always kind of annoying, especially when they happen multiple times in an issue.

This definitely isn't up to the same quality as Soule's main Daredevil run. The story is just boring...art is decent though.

Bad. Just...just plain bad.

Decent start. I like the premise, even if it's just a basic sidequest story. Art is good, writing is solid. Kinda throws you in the deep end right out the gate, but not in a way that drowns you.

This wasn't great...the story felt really muddled, the writing wasn't very sharp, and the changing artwork was jarring.

Bland characters, confusing writing even for a fairly straightforward story, and mediocre art all make this comic wholly forgettable.

This was extremely poorly executed. Foxe didn't do anything to make me give a solitary crap about any one of these characters, and the writing was just awful. This was a serious disappointment cause I actually really enjoyed Foxe's Dark X-Men mini. But while there he actually gave the characters some semblance of depth and personality, this group was collectively as appealing and interesting as a toenail. I'm glad this is over. The Krakoan era is probably my favourite X-Men era ever, but tripe like this does serve as a reminder that it's a mixed bag and that one would be best served by sticking to the more acclaimed series' and leaving the rest on the cutting room floor.

It's too bad the writing kinda sucks, cause the art is outstanding.

Well...the one thing this comic had going for it was Jim Cheung's art, and now it doesn't even have that. I'm really trying to care about these characters, but teenagers are difficult to care about in the first place without them being written poorly.

I'm getting really tired of this "Hey, cut it out or we're gonna tell your parents!" crap. Can this story offer anything more than just a drawn out angst-filled superhero soap opera about a group of particularly unlikable teens? Also, in a group of characters who range from completely forgettable to painfully annoying, Eli is in a league of his own. Kid is just...the worst.

While it's nice to have Jim Cheung back on art, not even he can save this painfully boring story or make Heinberg's lackluster writing any more tolerable.

Nothing remarkable about this issue at all. The story is so bland...the only thing keeping it from being a complete and utter dumpster fire is the art.

Ugh...I'm finding it so hard to care about what happens to any of these characters.

Kate seriously blamed Cap and the other Avengers for the death of Teddy's Mom? Maybe it was the Young Avengers' stubborn refusal to listen to good advice that got her killed...just a thought. Jeez...I feel so bad that Jim Cheung's fantastic artistic ability was wasted on this terrible comic. It truly is the only silver lining here. There aren't very many books that I dislike this strongly. I have the Avengers: Children's Crusade sequel to this run, but I honestly don't think I'm going to be able to bring myself to read it.

I don't know man...I'm just not really feeling this. For whatever reason, LaValle seems to be writing Sabretooth almost completely differently than he wrote him in the first series. He doesn't act or talk like I would've expected him to. The pacing of the story seems off too...some things happening far too quickly, jumping around unexpectedly...it just seems a bit sloppy.

This is just...okay. I feel like LaValle hasn't done a great job with the characterization; everyone talks the exact same way...nobody has a unique personality, and as a result, I'm finding it extremely hard to care about any of them. Nanny and Orphan-Maker seem completely different from how Zeb Wells wrote them in Hellions (which was brilliant by the way). This just feels...I don't know...stale.

This was really, really badly written. The dialogue is just atrocious, and the story has gotten ridiculous. I'm shocked...I expected to like this. A lot of people seemed to enjoy Lavalle's work on Sabretooth, but the more I read the more disappointed I am.

This was pretty trash. Stupid resolution to a bland, poorly written story. Art was meh the whole way through. Also, why couldn't Sabretooth have taken the coil out himself right after it was put in? If all it took was someone clawing it out, couldn't he have done it like...immediately?

This was weirdly paradoxical in that it seems like it provides a whole bunch of helpful information, but by the end of it I feel like I don't understand the world of Prophet any more than I did before I read it. It's like a mini encyclopedia, but each entry is so complex and lacking in full context that I feel like I learned a lot without learning anything. That's Prophet for you though, I guess.

I feel bad rating this so low, but it's just too much information with not enough context. Every entry in this mini encyclopedia needs its own issue to fully explain it, so the single panels just don't provide enough explanation to make everything make sense.

This was a fine opener. Jed Mackay's writing of Felicia is on par with the previous run, so if you dug that then you'll dig this. The villain seems pretty one-dimensional with unoriginal motives, so that's a bit of a letdown, but oh well. Tony was written well here. I got a chuckle when he followed through on his petty threat to turn the sprinklers on Felicia.

Tamara is pretty dense, isn't she?

Uninspired. Too wordy, too much science mumbo-jumbo, unfunny jokes, and not nearly enough happening other than a long chase scene.

A pretty predictable and not all that memorable ending. Mackay's run on Black Cat should've ended with the giant sized finale to the previous run. This mini didn't do enough to justify its existence in my humble opinion.

Punisher really said "Kung-fu this".... Well okay then.

Nice start. Funny in parts, good introduction to each team member, fun banter, and a good setting of the tone of the series. This is an interesting combination of misfits and I'm curious to see how their dynamic plays out over the coming issues.

Gwen could do so much better.

The jokes weren't really landing for me in this one. Nice to see Gwen breaking the fourth wall, but I find it a little weird that neither her nor B.R.O.D.O.K. have mentioned her time working as a henchman for M.O.D.O.K. in her Unbelievable Gwenpool run, especially since he's the villain they're currently up against. Just seems like something that would come up. Also, I'm not gonna lie...I could not care less about Fuse or whatever his name is. For a new character, we haven't really spent any time getting to know him, and so he has zero depth at the moment. At least the others are all established, so even though we haven't really gotten any strong character moments for them either, I at least know something of their background and history.

This was a meh issue. It's fun and all, but when your whole thing is "It's fun!", then you're gonna need it to be REALLY fun every issue or it quickly starts to lose its charm. Haven't really seen much in the way of characterization or depth yet, and when you don't have that and the jokes aren't landing, then you don't have much left. Also, to borrow from a Bill Burr bit: how did I know Ramone was gonna be a lesbian? Same way you did. They don't all look the same, but every now and then you get a layup.

Gwenpool is the most entertaining character here by a mile. I wish we got more of her 4th wall breaking, but I guess Thompson doesn't want her to overshadow all the other characters.

I loved Clint impersonating Wonder Man. I wanted more of that.

Some funny moments. I liked that Clint was outed when the real Wonder Man appeared on live TV; it's the kind of ridiculous bad luck scenario he would find himself in. I also enjoyed the expressions of Gwen, Quentin and Ramone when they found out about the vampires. That being said, this issue still struggled with the same stuff this whole series has struggled with. There is no depth to any of these characters whatsoever. None of them are growing (except maybe Quentin the tiniest bit), and there's no chemistry at all between any of them, even between Kate and Johnny who are supposed to be a couple. And I literally could not care less about Ramone... her whole "I'm a black woman surfer champ who runs her own small business so I'm basically a superhero" could not have made me roll my eyes harder. Also...when did she get skinny? Wasn't she fairly heavyset when she was introduced? What, the writer/artist didn't think a plump girl in magical Wakandan armor would look good?

Kinda garbage. The jokes were unfunny, the characters continue to be bland with zero team chemistry, and the story was so uninteresting it hurts. Glad to be done. It probably doesn't help that I read this as part of the Gwenpool omnibus, and not only is Gwen written differently here, but she's probably the team member who gets the least amount of spotlight throughout the series. So, a disappointment on a number of fronts.

"Just Some Guy" - 8.5 "Sinister 60" - 8.5 "Spider-Man vs. Conspiratron" - 6 "The Kid's Got a Good Eye" - 4.5 "In the Flesh" - 6 "Slaves of the Witch-Queen" - 6 "You Get It" - 9.5 "With Great Power" - 8 A lot of really great art on display here, but some real rough writing. Some of these stories just didn't go anywhere or have any meaning behind them. Or maybe they did and I just missed it, which is entirely possible, but I particularly disliked Iannucci's story, Rowell's story, and Anderson's story. Just found them boring and pointless. Favourite was easily Hickman's, and Falcone's and Slott's were enjoyable as well. Perhaps worth a read if you're a big Spidey fan, but in my opinion the character deserved better from this anthology tribute.

The narration in this issue and the last really just isn't working at all.

Good thing Jerome Opeña is still drawing this, cause the writing on issue was pretty bad...

It's tragic that Jerome Opeña's absolutely brilliant art is all but wasted on this comic. It's the only thing propping it up.

This issue was dogwater. The writing, the art, all of it.

These time jumps are a bold move...it moves the plot forward, but it doesn't really give you time to settle in. The flashbacks to Steve's past are honestly the best part. JRJ's art is a little rough...I normally enjoy his work but he's not at his best here.

This earned extra points for the great last two pages, but otherwise it was pretty bad...the writing was really lackluster and Romita Jr.'s art is just sloppy looking.

I thought Jet changed sides a little too easily. I know we've seen her doubting her side, but she flipped just a little too quickly.

Honestly, I was going to rate this issue MUCH lower until that shocking ending. I love Remender as a writer, but this might be the weakest thing I've read by him so far. Hoping it's just this Dimension Z arc and that it gets better after this. Romita Jr.'s subpar art doesn't help.

This was a bit better, but I just don't really find this story compelling.

I'm having a really hard time caring about any of the characters here. I love Rick Remender...he's one of my favourite writers, but this is reeeally not up to his usual standards. I wonder if books like this were why he stopped working for Marvel.

This was a step up. Honestly, now that we're out of the ridiculous Dimension Z, everything feels much more grounded and as result, the comic is more enjoyable. Art is better than Romita Jr.'s, but inconsistent at times. Characters' features look too different in certain panels. That said, it's a big step up.

That reporter girl truly sucks. Trying to guilt trip Sam for violating your freedom of the press when he's trying to save hundreds of innocent lives? How dare you. The people who die as a result of your desire to publish a juicy piece will be on your head. This issue was better, but yeah...that reporter girl sucks.

"EXCREMENT ALSO FLOATS!" LOL what a line. Hard to take this issue seriously after that.

Good art, and I actually liked a one-off issue focusing on Jet Black. This helped flesh out her character a bit.

I love Rick Remender. He's one of my favourite writers of all time. However, this is probably the weakest thing I've ever read by him. The villains are boring and all they do is monologue LITERALLY all issue long. For multiple issues. It's exhausting to read. I feel like nothing has really happened in the last 4-6 issues. It's all been the same stuff, just really drawn out villain monologuing while Cap punches them. It's just plain bland, it lacks the emotion and smart pacing of Remender's other works. On the plus side, Klein's art has been good.

Pretty underwhelming.

Goes out with a fizzle. Definitely Remender's weakest work. Jet Black flipped back to the dark side as easily as she flipped to the light side, the deaths of Ian and Sharon are undone, and Zola gets away without having really done anything. Literally the only thing that this series can really be said to have accomplished is make Captain America old.

Brutal and beautifully drawn. A solid start.

Kieron Gillen writes Mr. Sinister so well.

This...wasn't very good unfortunately. Which is a shame because I typically LOVE Kieron Gillen's work.

This was okay. On one hand, Sale's art is as good as it's ever been. Possibly thanks to colourist Dave Stewart. On the other hand, Loeb's writing is probably as weak as it's ever been. This definitely does not seem to have the same depth or even the same aesthetic as the other Long Halloween tales have had. That said, it's still a decent read and better than a lot of stuff out there.

7.5/10 is probably being generous, but the art bumped it up significantly. Writing-wise, this was...not great. The dialogue is pretty bad, and Catwoman's internal monologues are not nearly as compelling as Batman's in the other Long Halloween installments.

Art is spectacular. Story is still so-so. I have to ask...does Jeph Loeb have a Catwoman fetish or something? I don't know that I've ever seen a character sexualized as much as Catwoman is in this story. A lot of characters get sexualized in comics, but it's not usually this obvious. Horny Riddler and his constant passes at Selina is growing old real fast.

More good art, more mediocre writing, more overt Catwoman sexualization. This seems to be about all this series has to offer so far.

It's a shame Sale's gorgeous art is wasted on this nothingburger of a story. Again, I'm probably being generous with a 7.5/10, but the art deserves it. And while it's not great, the story isn't atrocious. It just...is.

I don't think this really had anything to do with Halloween.

I liked this fine. The dialogue was good, although the story wasn't super clear to me. I feel like I may be missing key pieces; feels like some context would help. Alex Maleev's art is really great here, except during action scenes. I find he struggles a bit to make it clear what's going on anytime characters are doing anything other than standing and talking.

The art is really, REALLY good, and this issue was decently well-written...I'm just having a very difficult time buying Victor von Doom as a good guy. It's just one of those things that comic book writers pull sometimes to change things up and try something new, but it goes against everything the character has been about for decades and so it just doesn't work.

Art is still great, story is still meh.

Art is still good. Writing is actually pretty decent. I just can't get all the way behind a story about Doctor Doom apologizing, admitting shame, and caring about people other than himself. It just goes against who he is. Also, Bendis had to know that some writer would eventually come along and turn Doom back into the bad guy he is, right? So then why go down this road at all?

I couldn't care less about Riri Williams as a character, and this issue was just all talking, but not the interesting kind that writers like Jonathan Hickman can pull off. Just boring conversations that didn't really give us any answers or plot development. I'd take more points off if it weren't for Alex Maleev's consistently great art.

This was pretty good, although Bendis often seems to end his issues abruptly or in an odd place, as though there's a page or two missing. Curious creative choice.

*Groan* So you're telling me that it was just Mephisto the entire time...?

Mephisto's painfully long monologue almost took me out. He did not sound like himself at all, but I guess that's Bendis dialogue for ya. And was he talking to me...? Didn't realize he was a 4th wall breaker. So that's fun. This series was pretty underwhelming. I guess I'm glad I read it, but I likely won't be revisiting it in the future.

This was a solid start. I have a feeling most of the young "freedom fighters" are going to annoy me, but we didn't get enough of most of them in this issue to really grind my gears, so it was tolerable. That Lok guy is a ginormous prick, although that is kinda the point. Looking forward to him getting his. Don't know what this series has in store, but hopefully there's more of what was in this issue! Death, snappy dialogue, great art.

The art is great, but I don't really like the new characters. These so-called "Revolutionaries". Also, I'm not sure I liked how much of a pussy Deadshot seemed to be in this... He just kinda stood around and did nothing, and then allowed Osita and the others to do whatever they wanted, even after they essentially left him to die in that crashing plane.

It's not bad, I just wish that these new characters weren't so insufferable. I'd love to be able to cheer for them, but I just feel like I can't. Too much teenage angst.

This was a good issue. Deadshot finally does something other than stand around and voice his objections to what's going on, and his move was pretty cool, even if it was predictable. At this stage, I don't think these "Revolutionaries" are going to grow on me, so I'll settle for them not annoying me, and in this issue, they weren't unbearably annoying, which was nice. I still don't like that our "Suicide Squad" only has 2 (maybe 3?) members who are actually established characters. I get that it makes it easier to kill people off, but it also makes it harder to invest in the story. Taylor's writing is quite good, character issues aside, and Redondo's art is fantastic.

Listen...I'm always jazzed to see Batman show up in a comic that's not his. But when he shows up, I like him to come in and show what an absolute badass he is and then leave in a way that makes the other characters feel lucky just to have breathed the same air as him for a bit and survived mostly intact. So it kinda bums me out to see him show up and do not much of anything except for taking punches from teenagers and getting his Batmobile stolen. Firstly...this issue just showed Batman taking out a group of highly trained and fully armed assassins in seconds, but he gets punched and kicked in the face twice while trying to take down two amateur anarchists? And then some girl who is a thief and a teleporter manages to steal a vehicle that is probably more secure than any vault or supercomputer on earth? That just seems like a bit of a joke to me, and not a very good one at that. Art was good, that was a plus. Also... "Your government took me from my kid". Yeah, Deadshot...that's what freaking happens when you break the law...you go to jail and you get separated from the people you love. Well if it isn't the consequences of your own dang actions.

Never thought I'd be glad to see the Revolutionaries show up...but I'm very glad Deadshot's daughter is okay. Deadshot finally got to do some Deadshooting in this issue, which was nice to see. Although I won't lie, it feels kinda unclear who the main characters are in this series. I know it's a story about a team, but even team stories have primary, secondary, and tertiary characters. But in this, there seem to be tertiary and secondary characters, but no primary ones. You could make a case for Deadshot and Osita, maaaaybe Harley, but even then, the focus isn't really on them in a way that feels like they're center stage. I think this lack of clarity concerning who this story is actual about is part of what's making it hard for me to invest in it. Good art and decent writing only get you so far.

Sorta nice to get some backstory on a couple of the new characters I guess, but it comes at a really random time and doesn't seem to have much to do with Ted Kord and his plan. It felt like Taylor realized he's now 8 issues in and he should probably give us some reason to give a crap about the Revolutionaries, so he jammed some backstory into a filler issue and made it fit even though it didn't. "The Aerie" made it seem like his (her? I can't tell...) backstory was directly relevant to their plot to assassinate Kord, but it really wasn't, at all.

Some brief thoughts (spoilers below): -For starters, the pacing felt off. Too quick at the start. -Deadly Six has a somewhat cool ability in theory, but it would be nice to see him use something other than Sloth and Greed. I know he said it would be weird to weaponize lust, and...fair point. But there are 4 more sins you could use, but we've only seen the same two used so far. -I have no idea which one is Thylacine and which one is Chaos Kitten, and that's when I can actually remember their names, which I usually can't. Those two are definitely the most forgettable in this series. I don't even remember their powers, if they have any. This is the problem with introducing a bunch of brand new characters...if you don't have time to develop them or let readers get to know them, then all they're gonna do is get in the way and severely limit the number of fucks I could give. -The twist was very twisty and all, but what on God's green earth are we doing adding Black Mask to the mix as a major player in this story 2 issues from its conclusion? -Also, since when can Black Mask change his appearance like that? I admittedly don't know much about him so maybe that's just a thing he can do? I dunno. I thought he was just a crime boss or some such, but what do I know? -Deadshot was completely and utterly wasted in this run. He did virtually nothing all series, just kinda stands around and complains, and then he dies. He was the most interesting character in this story who had the most potential for both emotional depth and cool action sequences, and Taylor used him for none of that. What a shame.

Listen...I'm not the kind of guy who can't let it slide when something silly, inconsistent, or even downright illogical happens in a comic, as long as it doesn't happen too often and the story/art are good enough to make up for it. Unfortunately, the silly, inconsistent, and illogical things in this series are starting to pile up, and the story isn't good enough to allow for me to continue to let it slide. The art is good, but that's just not enough. My problems with this issue are too many for me to want to get into all of them, so I'll just summarize by saying that this felt rushed, disjointed, and directionless, and it had a couple genuinely stupid moments. This run is on a disappointing trajectory as I was enjoying it somewhat for the first half. I find myself quite unable to enjoy it anymore.

Yeah, this last issue confirms it. They said the quiet part out loud. This was never really a Suicide Squad story, it was always only ever a "Revolutionaries" story. None of those characters were interesting enough to justify a series focused solely on them, so they threw in a couple of established Suicide Squad members and made them absolutely useless so they could sell a few copies of this book. King Shark died immediately, Deadshot complained a bunch and THEN died, and Harley stayed alive only to make one or two unfunny jokes each issue and do literally nothing else, but otherwise this book had nothing to do with the Suicide Squad. It didn't even have Amanda Waller past the first issue and the squad members even took out their implanted bombs early on. Uninteresting characters with zero depth, a boring story that couldn't decide what it wanted to be, and a head-scratching ending that left me wishing I'd never bought this book. I mean...you're really gonna have a character you killed off several issues ago miraculously get resurrected by a random god we've never seen before and then save the day super easily with barely an inconvenience? The art was good throughout, so at least it was a dumpster fire that was nice to look at for the most part.

This was a quick, decent read. The premise is interesting. Art was good. The main character isn't as likeable yet as I would've hoped, but I'll give it time for her to grow on me.

I liked this one more. Willa trying to walk normally was hilarious, as was the bouncer crying about Willa's jab about sleeping with his gravboots on.

I like how Henderson thought of some of the ramifications that G-Day would've had on not only culture but things like the economy as well. Shows he actually thought the concept through and it's not just a gimmick.

This issue had some really powerful emotional moments. I liked the conversations between Willa and her Dad. And the zero gravity rain is really cool.

Didn't pack the emotional punch that I think it was going for, but still a decent end to the first arc.

This was a fun opener to this arc. Gigantic killer dragonflies is a cool and terrifying idea.

I'm liking the fantasy-esque quality the series has taken on with the introduction of giant bugs and warrior farmers, but this issue (and a lot of the series) suffers from pacing and dialogue issues. They're just not quite sharp enough to take this story from pretty good to great.

The dialogue seems like it's getting rougher as the story goes on, and a few characters made some really rather dumb choices in this one. This comic is a fun and light read, but it also needs a little more depth and realism. I know that saying a series about a zero-gravity world needs to be more grounded may sound idiotic, but even within this dystopian world the creators have built, I still want to see characters talking and behaving like normal people with basic critical thinking would. The twist at the end was cool, but also really predictable. Art is great still.

I feel like the writing has been getting gradually worse and the story has been getting gradually less interesting...

The flashback was cool, but I don't know how they're going to wrap up this story in 3 more issues. I did like the little Majora's Mask reference though.

It's fine. It's all just...fine.

Unfortunately this series just keeps on getting more and more stale and uninspired. The characters have grown completely one-dimensional and are near impossible to care about. Even the villains' motivations and actions make no sense. The story itself has gone nowhere as the whole final conflict that's been brewing since the 2nd arc was just resolved in less than 20 pages. It's a disappointing penultimate issue considering the first 8-10 issues were good, light-hearted fun, so the trajectory does not give me high hopes for a satisfying conclusion.

A hopeful but flawed ending. Hard not to be disappointed with how this series went downhill. I enjoyed the first half, but it just fizzled at the end.

This is my first ever Hawkman comic, so I'm coming in completely fresh, knowing absolutely nothing about the character's history. This was easy enough to follow as a starting point. Looking forward to learning more.

This was a bit of a slog to read mainly due to the heavy southern accents Robinson insisted on employing throughout the whole issue. I had to read most lines twice so that I could understand them, and since they weren't all that interesting in the first place, it was twice as much of a pain. Story-wise, it actually wasn't bad. We get a look at a past life of Hawkman and Hawkgirl and the founding of Stonechat House, which is actually relevant to the main plot. The execution was just pretty poor, and the art was nothing special.

A quick read. Lots of yetis.

The beginning of the issue was actually sweet, but the ending kinda killed it. If Carter's bodies from his past lives are scattered all across the globe, how do they all spring out of the ground in one spot after Headhunter drops a few magic bones on the dirt? Also, Carter is a terrible teacher lol How was that poor kid supposed to know the history books he used in his paper were wrong?

As someone who reads way more Marvel comics than DC, I had no idea who most of these characters were out of costume. The names at the beginning were helpful, but there were too many to keep track of. And not much happened in this issue other than a quick fight at the end that was barely even a fight. It was mostly just people talking about stuff that didn't seem at all relevant to what's been going on in this Hawkman run so far.

I wish I knew more DC Comics history. That would probably make this way more enjoyable. Lots of little things happening that I just don't understand the significance of.

Solid start. Great action, good writing, and an intriguing mystery along with an not-wholly-original but still entertaining premise. Nice to be able to picture specific voices when reading lines of dialogue, and I couldn't not hear Keanu Reeves talking in his low, growly John Wick voice.

I gotta say, ripping the head off a horse and then stabbing a guy in the face with its jawbone is kind of a baller move.

This was a pretty boring issue. I'm starting to worry this story doesn't really have a forward-moving plot. All we're getting is backstory and questions about the Berserker, but so far no real answers. And the violence is great for shock value, but when it's used so much like in this story, it starts to lose its power. Especially when the main character is invincible. We need some other threat or conflict to give the story some actual stakes. So far, the worst thing that might happen to B is that he might continue to live forever. Doesn't really give the story much suspense or sense of tension.

I don't super know what's going on anymore.

This story sorta went off the rails.

This finale really didn't land for me. The pace was WAY too quick, the dialogue was absolutely atrocious, and certain plot points just made no sense. Not to mention the several loose ends that were left. This comic started out strong, but it became clear that all it really had to offer was over-the-top violence and a vaguely promising mystery, although that violence grew stale after a while and the mystery turned out to be mostly incoherent and devoid of any real substance. The characters were really difficult to feel anything for, and so the finale had virtually no emotional depth for me. Entertaining at times and it had more potential than it delivered on, but ultimately it was a disappointing read for me.

Loved how Ruth seemed to know who Rogue is, or who she's supposed to be.

The art here is the main draw. Mike Perkins is quickly becoming one of my favourite artists, and he continues to impress here. The story was okay and the writing was fine. I gotta say though, this is one fine looking book. I only read trades, not single issues, so I purchased the hardcover when it came out, and my goodness is it ever beautiful. I don't like to judge books by their covers, but at the same time, I'm a sucker for a gorgeous looking book on my shelf. Hopefully the story ends up being one that will make me want to keep it on my shelf and not just sell it when I'm done.

I don't know man...the writing is just a bit too hoaky for my taste. The art is good at least.

I'm finding it difficult to know what to think of this. I like the way this added depth to the relationship between Kurt and Mystique. I liked how Spurrier weaved the narrative together using flashbacks and gap-filling; I thought that was pretty skillfully done. I liked the art throughout. However...I'm not sure how necessary the retcon was. Yes, it adds depth to Kurt and Mystique's relationship, but I feel like there were other ways to accomplish that without messing with Marvel history. What does Mystique being Kurt's...dad (I guess?) and Irene being his mom add to anything? Also...if Azazel is no longer (or never was?) Kurt's father...then where the F does Kurt get his pointy ears, demon tail, and teleportation powers from?? Are we just going to say that Mystique made him look that way? That she...altered her sperm (ugh)...when she knocked up Destiny in order to make him look like Azazel? Was she essentially copying Azazel's genetic code (as Doc Nemesis says she's able to do in his journal entry)? And if so, then doesn't that technically still make Azazel the father, biologically speaking? Was it basically just using a sperm donor but weirder? I have lots of questions, and I doubt I'm going to get any canonical answers, which makes it hard to find satisfaction in a retcon like this. Also, my last quibble is that I'm really tired of Xavier always being made the bad guy.

Finally getting to this! Sorta confusing first issue, a lot going on, but the art was great and it was well-written. Looking forward to seeing how the plot unfolds and becomes clear.

This was really good. Loved the art throughout, although I'm having to really try hard to convince my brain I'm not reading a previously unreleased prequel to Fraction and Aja's Hawkeye, cause the way Aja draws Danny is almost exactly like how he drew Clint, bandages and all. But yeah, I really enjoyed this. That female Iron Fist at the beginning was badass, I would love to see more of her. I'm interested to know more about this Randall fellow, why he is alive after all this time, and how he fits into the narrative.

This was great. Not a lot happened, but it was really well written and the art was, once again superb. Aja's style is a little less refined here than it is in his later work on Hawkeye, but it works really well for the tone. It gives more Michael Lark, whereas his Hawkeye stuff is closer to Jorge Fornes. Anyway, good writing, good art, I'm enjoying myself so far. I also really like the historical Iron Fist flashbacks at the start of each issue. I'm not sure how that's going to come into play in the future, but for now it's cool to see how the character's history spans back centuries, showing how the Iron Fist is more than just a vigilante superhero. It adds a certain weight to the character that makes him a lot more compelling.

Orson Randall's chi pistols are sick. What a cool extension of the Iron Fist power.

Davos isn't an overly compelling villain to me, so I wasn't super invested in this showdown. Aja's art continues to be stellar though. Also, I thought Orson deserved a little better than that.

Well, I wanted to know more about the female Iron Fist they briefly showed in one of the earlier issues, and I got my wish. This was a fun little interlude, although it seems odd to cut away from the main story for a tale that doesn't appear to have anything to do with what's been going on with Danny and friends (although it's entirely possible the significance will be revealed later). For what it was though, I enjoyed it. A bit wordy at times, but a good story. The narration seemed to jump between serious and silly, which makes me wonder who exactly is supposed to be narrating it, but perhaps that, too, is a story for another time.

One of the dumbest and most unnecessary annuals I've read in recent memory. I knew it was gonna be a doozy from the very first page and second panel when Danny said: "The resources absurd wealth provides are AS MUCH a part of what makes me the Iron Fist as ANYTHING ELSE" (Emphasis mine). I mean....are you kidding me...? So, according to Fraction and Brubaker, Danny being loaded is an EQUALLY essential part of his being the Iron Fist as, oh I don't know...having defeated a literal dragon and absorbed its power to gain an actual mother effing super powered fist?!?!? Not to mention his training...his fighting skills...his ability to focus his chi... Oh yeah. That's all a part of it too, but apparently his inherited wealth is just as important a reason that he's the Iron Fist. Listen...I'm no expert on the character, and I'm not even that huge of a fan of him, but this feels like straight up Iron Fist blasphemy. If these writers said something similar about a character I actually gave a rip about, like Daredevil or the Silver Surfer...then I'd be clawing at the drapes. But even so... as casual a fan of IF as I am... even I know that this is so collosally idiotic it defies every shred of logic and reason in this world. I can cover the rest of the issue in one sentence. It was boring, unnecessary, and poorly drawn. There. Oh, and as a sidenote, I found it hilariously stupid that the artist depicted the Hydra assassin's binocular vision as having the Hydra logo pasted over the screen like an unfaded watermark as well as their "Cut off one head and two shall grow in its place!!!" tagline gliding across the top and bottom of the screen like a score update ticker on the sports channel. I truly hope this was meant to be funny and intentionally lame, cause if not...if somebody actually thought that would be cool if Hydra had binoculars like that...then I don't want to live on the same planet as that person anymore.

I liked this one better than the last couple. Even though I'm still not really sure where this story is headed, I felt like this issue was easier to understand and was better written.

I really liked this one. May have been my favourite issue of this run so far. I thought the writing was a lot sharper, and the story really started to take shape and gain direction, something that I've felt has been missing. The art was great, and I even mostly enjoyed the flashback sequence of Wendell, something that I've personally thought has been bogging down the series up till now.

Oof...this was not good. The art ranged from great (Dragotta and Allred) to really, really bad (whoever did the Western story). This was a completely unnecessary and overly long flashback issue that failed to justify its existence. I had enjoyed the last issue of the main series, but this (as well as the issue where Danny leaves Kun-Lun to study Orson Randall's life) just completely derail the story's momentum and take me out of the story. I would probably be enjoying this run way more if we didn't have this unnecessary one-shots inserted every few issues.

It's been a gripe of mine before, and it's still a gripe of mine now. These one-shots are completely unnecessary and add nothing to the ongoing plot of this run. I get that the writers are trying to deepen the lore and get their readers to understand the weight and significance of carrying the Iron Fist mantle, which I suppose they hope will...I don't know...give people a greater sense of awe and an appreciation for the character's history? Who knows. But whatever their goal was, I don't think they're accomplishing it. Inserting this needless one-shot RIGHT BEFORE the final issue of Fraction and Brubaker's stint in this run gives me the same feeling as when the GPS voice interrupts the song I was listening to right when it gets to the chorus. It massively impacts my enjoyment of this comic and completely details any momentum and flow that was building. I don't understand. I hate that I'm having such a hard time enjoying this book, cause it was one I'd heard such good things about and was really looking forward to. But, sadly, issues like this have just sucked the life out of it for me. The main story itself left some things to be desired as well, but I'm certain I would've been more invested were it not for these constant detours into Iron Fist history (Iron Fistory?) and Orson Randall's exploits.

Honestly, this was a pretty good last issue for Fraction and Brubaker. On its own merit, it works really well and does a good job setting up future plot while also feeling like a conclusion of sorts. That said, it's hard to be fully satisfied after what was at times a convoluted and disjointed run. Also, one thing I found interesting was that Danny is now giving away all of his fortune after having previously said that his fortune is just as much a part of what makes him the Iron Fist as anything else - a quote that I thought was just about the stupidest thing I ever read, so it's not like I'm mad that they've chosen to undo it, but it just reinforced how idiotic and ignorant a thing it was to say in the first place. Anyway, the star of this run was David Aja, whose art was absolutely superb throughout. It was also just unfortunate though that we had so many flashbacks and one-shots scattered throughout that it felt like his art always had to share the spotlight with lesser work.

The encounter between Cap and Moon Knight was great.

Whoa...This was one of the better issues of Moon Knight I've ever read, period. Art was amazing, script was near flawless. Bravo!

The writing here is a significant step down from Charlie Huston's, and the art isn't great either. Hoping both improve, but not a very promising start to Benson's run. Also, I couldn't care less about Frenchie and his boyfriend at this point. I really hope there's a point to continuing to keep them around, cause so far it just seems like their only purpose is to be the token gay characters who are just kinda there but add nothing of substance to the story.

Better, but not by much. The art still kinda sucks. It's hard to distinguish between some characters, and it doesn't help that Benson's script seems a bit all over the place at times, jumping to a different scene almosy every panel on some pages.

I want to like this, I really do...but the art is shite, the story is too jumpy, and we're barely getting any actual Moon Knight. Just his friends (who all hate him) and the people looking for him.

What the actual hell just happened...that issue was moving at 1000mph, and not in a good way. Way too much too quickly and not nearly enough justification for any of it happening. Art still sucks too.

That's it. This honestly hurts...I love Moon Knight. He's my favourite Marvel character besides Daredevi, so to read this hot garbage has been truly painful. I've tried to be generous with my ratings, but I can't do it anymore. I have to own up to how much this sucks. Besides the art, which is STILL terrible, the writing has just gotten utterly and completely lazy. You're gonna tell me Moon Knight is standing in the middle of the entire Thunderbolts crew and a dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and he somehow manages to sneak down a manhole unseen? Give me an actual break. The Benson and Texiera run on Moon Knight is easily the worst in the character's history, which is truly sad cause I was loving the Huston and Finch arcs.

This is so, so bad...just...terrible. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Art is significantly better, story is somewhat interesting but I'm not convinced it's a very good Moon Knight story yet. Benson still has a bad habit of jumping around without warning and no real indication of where we are. It'd be nice if we had location and time markers in the first panel after a jump like many writers include. That would make things a lot easier to follow.

Okay...I have a BIG problem with the covers for issues 26 and 27. They are incredibly misleading. Why feature the Punisher on two straight covers only to him appear in literally only 2-3 panels between both issues? An absolutely BS marketing tactic that I'm sure pissed off more than a few folks who were duped into buying these issues hoping for a Moon Knight/Punisher showdown. That aside, this issue was actually quite good on its own merit. The art was honestly awesome, and the story was way more coherent and was a lot easier to follow.

In a completely unexpected turn of events, I'm absolutely gobsmacked to declare that...I loved this issue. Somehow, virtually everything about this issue worked for me. The art, the action, the dialogue, the story...where the heck did this come from Benson?! And why the heck couldn't all of your previous work on Moon Knight have been even HALF this good?!? My only minor gripe with this issue is the same gripe as I've had with this whole arc so far, and that is that it still doesn't really fully feel like a Moon Knight story, or at least you could swap out Jake's name for Clint or Bucky or something and it would work exactly the same. So as much as I loved this issue, I would still really love to get this Moon Knight run back to being an actual Moon Knight run again. With only two issues to go, here's hoping Benson is able to keep things this quality and actually finish strong after an otherwise terrible run.

Not a bad issue overall, but honestly...the Punisher using a wig and dress to pose as a woman is just about the dumbest and most un-Punisher-like thing I've ever seen. Like they wouldn't know he was a man the second they saw him. Punisher would've just come in shooting. Also, the art was worse than in the previous three issues for whatever reason. I can't quite put my finger on why, but it just seemed like it took a step down.

Well, it wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great. It may not even have been good. It just...was. I don't really understand the purpose of this entire arc. Benson never really justified Moon Knight's or the Punisher's presence in Mexico. What was the point of the Toltec? It was teased for a few issues and then...no big showdown? Just some interesting creative choices. The art was a bit better here than last issue at least. Disappointed that Benson didn't manage to stick the landing after a fantastic third issue of this arc, but I suppose I shouldn't really be all that surprised considering the rest of his run was mostly either incoherent or just plain boring.

Don't know much about Black Cat, just that she's Marvel's Catwoman and an occasional Spider-Man love interest. This was a decent first issue. A few genuinely funny moments. Thr art was oddly inconsistent, going from really great to really rough panel to panel. The writing was fine and the story was fine too. Also, I rarely ever comment on it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the lettering. The font choice was weird and my eyes didn’t really like reading it. Just use the standard comic font! If it ain't broke, y'know?

Black Cat breaking into the Sanctum Sanctorum is a really fun concept for a heist comic. And I'm glad to see Sonny is sticking around, I liked him in issue 1.

I wish the art was better, cause this is a pretty fun comic for the most part.

All I want to know is how in the world did Felicia conceal her Black Cat suit underneath her wedding dress...?

This wasn't good. Basically just a history of the thieves guild, but it makes no sense cause Odessa is telling it to the Black Fox who literally knows all about it already. Helpful for the reader, sure. But do it in a way that actually makes sense in the context of the story. Felicia was barely in this, and I don't find Odessa to be a compelling character whatsoever. Not to mention the art was at an all-time bad in this issue, or maybe it just seems way worse after getting some decent art in the previous one. Either way, weakest issue so far.

A really fun issue with great art (finally!). This issue is what I need this series to be. More of this and less of whatever last issue was.

As a Canadian, I couldn't help but notice fellow canucklehead Jed Mackay calling it "pop" instead of "soda". A funny slip, but a slip nonetheless. Art was good again here, but at the same time, good grief...how many different artists can they go through in 12 issues? Can we get a little bit of artistic consistency please? Also, Deadpool's line was spot-on and hilarious. And Felicia's redhead joke was great too. Mackay's jokes don't always land, but when they do they're brilliant.

Fun issue. Again, a few hilarious jokes, a few that didn't land. Overall entertaining and nice to look at though.

An alright issue overall, but an admittedly awesome ending.

Not sure why this is rated so low, I quite enjoyed it. Was nice to see Odessa get what was coming to her. She's barely been in this series but I can't help but find her insufferable.

A cool start. The art and writing are good, and while the premise is nothing overly original, it was executed well. Reminds me a little of Oblivion Song. I only worry that 3 issues isn't nearly enough time to spend in this world to make it impactful, but we'll see. I hope I'm wrong!

It's decent, I just wish it was a longer series so things could be fleshed out a little more. Everything is moving so fast it's hard to care about our main character or much of anything that's going on. The art is nice to look at, but I'm finding it hard to get invested in the story.

Not bad, not amazing. Just decent. Again, I maintain that this needed to be longer. 6 issues might've been perfect. 3 was just too few to make this impactful.

I liked the spin on each of these characters, whether it's with their name or their power. It's a cool little What If? story.

This was utterly spectacular. As someone who wasn't a fan of most of King's Batman run, I could not have been more pleasantly surprised that he crafted such a genuinely enthralling Batman story here. King made Riddler into a seriously terrifying villain and this is probably my new favourite Riddler story ever. That ending was just...so good. SO good. And Mitch Gerads' art was nothing short of perfect. Tom King haters are always gonna hate, and Batman purists who can't handle the slightest alteration from their perception of what the Dark Knight should be are gonna be thoroughly triggered by this story, but as for me, this will go down as one of my favourite Batman comics ever and another absolute masterpiece from King.

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I actually was really enjoying both the art and the writing for the first two thirds, but both seemed to fall off a bit towards the end. There were a few things that bugged me: first, Harvey Dent's Dad was supposed to be 88, but the way Fernandez drew him made him look like he was in his fifties. I know this isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme, but I couldn't help but be bothered by it. Second, Batman's plan for dealing with the balloons filled with toxic gas was to throw a batarang at the glass ceiling directly above all of said balloons? I mean...are you kidding Tamaki? That might have been the thing that took me out of this book the most. Thirdly, I didn't really get the "one bad day" vibes from this one. As a collection of stories that are supposed to be in the same vein as The Killing Joke, this one just didn't seem to fit. Tom King did such a good job with the Riddler story, crafting a brilliant homage to Alan Moore's classic work, but this just seemed like a generic, standalone Two-Face story that wasn't inspired by anything. Overall, I still somewhat enjoyed this story and found it mildly entertaining, but it was certainly not without its problems.

This was hot garbage. There was honestly so much wrong with this story it would take way too long to list it all. The only reason this story gets a half point is because the art wasn't completely horrendous. The writing was atrocious, when the story wasn't bland it was just plain ridiculous, and the art was lazy and just plain not good enough, which is disappointing because I've loved some of Camuncoli's other work, especially Green Valley. There's more I could say, but I wasted enough time reading this that I don't want to waste any more reviewing it.

Though it felt a tad rushed at times and the ending was a little anti-climactic, I genuinely enjoyed this one. Duggan did a good job here. I had a good laugh at a couple of the jokes, and the writing was generally pretty good with only a couple minor exceptions. Didn't quite understand the bit about Victor admitting that he likes his life now and that he likes Nora being on ice because it means they don't fight anymore. I liked Batman calling Victor out for keeping Nora alive for selfish reasons, but Victor is supposed to genuinely love Nora and be working to cure her, otherwise...if he likes his life so much now and loves having a wife who he doesn't have to fight with or worry about...why keep her alive? So that bit didn't really make sense. It felt like Duggan couldn't decide whether to do classic Mr. Freeze or change things up, so we got a kind of weird hybrid where he's a borderline abusive husband but also loves her but he's glad she's frozen but also he's trying to save her. Oh well. These problems didn't bug me nearly as much as the ridiculousness in John Ridley's terrible Penguin story. So this one gets a 9/10 for decent writing and absolutely STELLAR artwork from Matteo Scalera. Seriously, this was a gorgeously drawn book.

You know what, I actually really enjoyed this. Way more than I thought I would! Williamson put a clever spin on the "one bad day" idea; rather than focusing on the day that made Bane into a villain, he chose instead to turn the day Bane beat the Batman into the one bad day that ruined him thereafter. It was a surprisingly heartfelt redemption story for Bane, and I actually quite appreciated it. Howard Porter dished out some terrific art too, perhaps with the exception of that one fight scene with the microscopicly small panels. Overall, a great entry and one of my favourites of this series so far.

This was just okay. The art was good, but the writing was so-so. Honestly the story just felt kind of bland. Not a lot happened, not a ton of depth. Just a run-of-the-mill Catwoman tale with a little bit of personal backstory. I feel like there was an opportunity here to go deeper into Selina's motivations and drive behind who she is and what she does but it was mostly missed and we got a fairly surface-level story. Good art from McKelvie was the best part of this in my opinion.

This was absolutely stunning. Haunting, tragic, flat out brilliant. This story pulled me in little by little until I couldn't break free and it completely captivated me. This is without a doubt the best Clayface story I have ever read. Kelly and Lanzing did an amazing job of crafting an engrossing new tale that perfectly pays homage to the story that inspired this series of one-shots. I absolutely loved the way they utilized the auditon scene from the Killing Joke and how even some of the panels and art towards the end were reminiscent of that book's final scene. This is easily my second favourite of these One Bad Day stories, ranking VERY close behind King's Riddler. Oh, and Xermanico's art was absolutely PERFECT for this story. Bravo.

This was a pretty good story. Ra's Al Ghul isn't anywhere close to my favourite Batman villain, but this was a well-written story and I got a good amount of enjoyment out of it. Wasn't a big fan of how on-the-nose Taylor's climate change messaging was if I'm being honest...but that aside, I still enjoyed this for what it was. Ivan Reis brought his 'A' game with his art so it was a joy to look at too. Overall this was a decent entry in this line of stories and I'm happy to say that this whole One Bad Day project was, in my opinion, a big success and well worth anyone's time and money.

This issue was my first exposure to the character of Vic Sage aka The Question. I liked the gritty, noir tone. I like the Question's fancy mask and gas shenanigans. I liked the detective angle and the joke about Google making it too easy. The writing was solid, the art suited the tone, and the mystery was intriguing. It didn't blow me away, but I did enjoy it quite a bit.

"I don't know what the hell is really going on anymore". Yup, that about sums it up. At least Lemire knows what his readers are thinking at this point. Story is not making much sense, but I assume it will become clearer before the end. I gotta say, I'm not loving the art. It's a little too...scratchy. It cam sometimes be hard to make out what's going on. It suits the tone of the story most of the time, but I wish it were a little better defined in some panels.

I really don't know what's going on.

I'm just not really sure what the point of it all was. I guess the point is that evil will always exist, but good will always be there to keep it in check? Maybe? I don't know. Both the story and the art were more confusing than they needed to be.

This was a really good issue, which is a little surprising considering it's a tie-in for an event but also the first issue in a relaunched title. Odd choice, but I really liked it. Could've done without the eyeroll-inducing offhanded anti-America remarks (like, really? A career thief has a problem with "stolen" land?), but otherwise I love the high stakes and the darker tone. And it was really, really nice to have some good art for a change. Sidenote: those Pepe Larraz covers are stunning.

What a bonkers issue. This was a fun time.

These last few issues were about as good as you can hope for from tie-in issues. A sidequest story that actually seems to matter, a deep dive into the title character's values and motivations, and some solid art and dialogue.

I actually quite liked the storytelling method in this issue of having Felicia sitting down with Fox and recounting how she went about saving Manhattan. I thought that the Fox should've probably been a little more peeved or scared at losing his immortality since he was willing to condemn an entire city in order to get it. I also am not a fan of Felicia and Odessa getting together. It just doesn't feel right or make sense to me.

This series seems directionless at this point. I get that it might've been cancelled too soon, but the whole story seemed to shift after the stuff with the Black Fox. Now it seems like the story doesn't know what it wants to be.

I wasn't liking the direction in the last few issues, but this finale was actually rather good. I really loved Felicia gathering together an insane amount of power with the infinity stones just to use it for a seemingly mundane personal reason in saving her Mom who has cancer. It was a really clever twist that I didn't see coming but that really landed for me emotionally. While it was a tad rushed, I thought it wrapped things up as well as it could've given the circumstances.

I really want to like this more...but I'm finding Zdarsky's writing just kind of basic. The story isn't original, and I knew that going in, but I'm not finding much about the way it's being told to be all that interesting either. I don't know...it's good I guess, it's just nothing overly special.

Wanted to like this more, but it just didn't really do it for me.

Art was great, writing was good, story was okay. Decent start, hopefully it gets more interesting.

I don't know man...the art is great, but I'm just not jiving with this story the way I want to be. I really do want to like this, but I'm just having a hard time with it. Maybe it's because this is my first Batman Beyond comic, but I feel like that shouldn't matter. Hopefully it starts to become a little more coherent soon.

Art is good, but this issue is basically just long fight scene and a long monologue. 8/10 is probably generous.

Not a bad ending. This series didn't impress me as much as I was expecting considering the terrific art and the usually terrific writers. Hopefully Neo-Gothic is better.

Not bad at all, but not overly eventful. The writing was solid, the art was great, the story just wasn't all that interesting. Seemed sorta filler. A showdown with Kraven sounds promising though.

Again, well-written, well-drawn, just not anything to write home about. Filler content between Devil's Reign and the next Daredevil arc. It's good filler, but it's filler nonetheless.

Decent little filler mini. Onto more Daredevil!

A good start. Fun to see how all of the different DC characters make the transition into a medieval setting. Hard to believe something like this hasn't been done before, at least not to this extent. Bruce being the bastard child of Jor-El and Martha Wayne is an interesting twist. I'm obviously not a fan of the moral implications of their infidelity, especially with those two characters in particular, but Bruce having Kryptonian abilities has some very intriguing potential.

The opening of this issue was incredible. Batman catching an arrow with his hand before it hits Alfred and then cutting off Oliver's hand was one of the most badass things I've seen in a while. Also, that image of Batman jumping down with the lightning flashing behind him was STUNNING. I forgot to mention the art in my review of the first issue, so let me say here: It is gorgeous. Really, really well done. This issue raises the stakes and sets up a war between our two kingdoms. Cool seeing Wonder Woman enter the game too. All in all, great continuation on what was a strong start. Looking forward to more.

Decent, but a few thougts: - King Jefferson retroactively justifying his murder of Jor-El simply because Zala took revenge on them is stupid. You can't say you were right to do an evil thing because "Look at the evil they did to us after!" A wrong done in response to a wrong doesn't make the first wrong right. - Diana not understanding why Zala would take revenge for the murder of her father is pretty stupid. Like, really? You can't wrap your head around why she might have killed Jacob? - Characters sure are dropping like flies in this series, aren't they? That's three major character deaths in as many issues. - Zala killing the metal men was wild.

Good backstory. I still think Jor-El and Martha Wayne's infidelity crosses the line in terms of character deviations I'm willing to tolerate in an elseworlds story. I also think it was somewhat unrealistic how easily everybody seemed to get over it. Both marriages and the friendships between the two couples survived and ended up being just fine? Just because Bruce was a good kid? I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. It's not impossible, it's just absurdly unlikely. Even if Thomas and Kara were able to forgive their respective spouses, it's really hard to believe they'd stay friends after that. And that's a problem because the whole royal succession of the Waynes by the Els depends on their friendship remaining intact. So that's probably the shakiest part of the narrative. But otherwise, this offered some helpful context and wad a well told backstory. I like the twist of Lex Luthor being the Joker, sort of becoming both Batman and Superman's greatest villains combined.

I LOVED the twist at the end. A really cool flip of the script. Art was great, writing was good. I enjoyed this a lot.

Constantine is pretty poorly written here. Otherwise this was decent.

Holy smokes....

Moved far too quickly, but we finally get some answers as to what's been going on.

The switcheroo with the aliens being behind everything and then the Green Man being done away with so casually seems a little unsatisfying, but I'm not as hard on this series as some. It's still a fun Elseworlds tale decently written with great art.

Quick thoughts: - I wish the White aliens had more interesting motives than simply wanting to conquer and enslave the humans. It makes for rather boring, 1-dimensional villains. - I kinda miss the days when Harley Quinn wasn't the voice of reason. I know her character has experienced significant growth over the years, in a healthy way that I should be happy for her, but she's come so far from who she was that she's barely recognizable anymore. - Dialogue isn't Tom Taylor's strong suit. - I love a good twist as much as the next guy, but I feel like this story almost has too many twists. Amanda Waller conspiring against the kingdom is perfectly in character for her, but the revelation that she's working with the aliens coming in the penultimate issue doesn't leave a whole lot of time for resolution. - Bruce telling Oliver "You murdered my father, but you're not a murder" is dumb. I get what he's saying...but murdering someone literally makes you a murderer. Just like r@ping someone makes you a r@pist and stealing makes you a thief. People can change and be redeemed and they don't have to be defined by their sins, but Oliver murdered the king, and I just feel like his "redemption arc" was far too quick and easy. Manipulated or not, I don't think he did nearly enough to earn his forgiveness and freedom. Yes, we know that Oliver is a good guy based on the Green Arrow character, but in this Elseworlds tale, nobody knows that. - As many gripes as I've just listed, I'm not not enjoying this series. Putting DC characters into a medieval story is my jam. It's not being executed as well as I'd like, but I'm still finding it thoroughly entertaining for the most part. - The art in this series has been great. The covers are particularly gorgeous thanks to the otherwordly talent of Dan Mora.

A rushed ending that didn't deliver on the promising start. I can't help but be disappointed. The villains were disposed of far too quickly and far too easily. The Green Man was a total fake-out bad guy and ended up being completely inconsequential to the story. Why did the aliens even need him at all? It seems like all of the manipulation and assassination they did to get the kingdoms to fight each other could have been done without the help of the Green Man. Pointless. And speaking of pointless...Alfred's death! What purpose did that serve? And Waller just gets away with everything? The real mastermind behind the entire plot and she doesn't even face justice? So unsatisfying. I wish I could give this issue a higher score cause I really did enjoy this series for the most part, but this ending was a huge letdown. It felt like Tom Taylor needed at least 6 more issues to tie up the plot threads neatly, but ran out of time and gave us a hurried mess of a finish.

Not bad. The viking setting seems like a natural next step for the Dark Knights of Steel world, and Taylor does a respectable job hitting the right notes. Interesting choice to make Deathstroke the focus of a spinoff series. Taylor is gonna need to make me emotionally invested in Slade's story here to keep me interested, and so far I'd say I'm feeling somewhat "meh". Hopefully that changes. Art was decent, it's a curious stylistic choice to do it all in black and white except for the boy at the end. I'm sure that has significance within the narrative, so hopefully it feels justified by the time it's explained.

Decent, although it bothered me how ruthless Slade was with Rose. He basically tried to kill her (seemed like he maybe even thought he had), and he didn't even bat an eye; even made a quip after kicking her into massive thorns that impaled her. I don't know the history between the two of them, but Slade is being presented in this story as a man who is hardened but has the capacity for love, especially for his family. His treatment of Rose just doesn't seem to jive with that. Also, how in the world is Slade still alive after being stabbed through the center of his back and out through his chest?!? No way that sword would've missed his heart. And even if it somehow did, he'd for sure be paralyzed. If he gets healed by some kind of magic, then fine, I'll accept that. But if he just bounces back from that normally, then I call serious BS.

I liked this. Medieval Batman and Deathstroke duking it out was great. However, Bruce landing on the squirrel was funny but didn't really fit the vibe of the story. Was a bit too cartoonish honestly. Tom Taylor needs better discernment with regard to when/where to insert humor and when/where not to.

I actually thought this was the best issue yet. Writing was at its sharpest, the art was terrific, and we got some compelling backstory that helped me care more about our characters and their quest. However, a couple quibbles: First, I'm not a fan of how abruptly Bruce left. Maybe he'll come back and save the day later, but it just seemed weird for him to pack it in after sustaining too many injuries. Also, can't he just fly up above the clouds and heal, then come back? Second problem I had was that it is getting absolutely absurd how much damage Slade can take without dying. He already got stabbed right through the back and out his chest, and now he's been stabbed AGAIN in the same place, tossed out a window and fallen hundreds of meters. I can understand some characters being able to take more punishment because they're...I don't know...heroic, I guess? But Slade should be dead. Period. He's not Superman. He's not an alien. He doesn't have regenerative powers. I'm past the point of believing that could just shake off what he's endured, and it's taking me out of the story a little bit more each time he does.

I don't know man...this wasn't overly compelling. Art was good though.

Okay, SO...I liked some things about this finale, and I disliked others. First, what I liked: I'm glad Bruce came back. I had mentioned in an earlier review that I thought it was dumb how abruptly Bruce peaced out, but that it would be made better if he ends up coming back, and he did, so yay. Mr. Freeze is a Batman villain so it wouldn't be right for the two of them to not face off. I also liked how Viktor froze an entire CITY just to keep Nora alive. For me, that elevated the Mr. Freeze origin story, taking both his love for Nora and his obsession with keeping her alive to new depths. Really cool. And finally, I REALLY loved the resolution to the conflict. Alec saving Nora's life to stop Freeze instead of him just getting beaten in a fight was a MUCH better ending and I almost shed a tear when they were reunited. Now, the things I disliked: Unfortunately, the dialogue was mostly atrocious. Corny one-liners, jokes that didn't land, cringeworthy battle-banter...it was just bad. Worst of the series. Secondly, according to Norse mythology, draugrs are undead creatures who were deceased but then later reanimated. So why did Viktor's spell turn still living people (including Slade's sons) into draugrs even though they didn't die first? And if the spell did that to Slade's sons, why didn't it do the same thing to Slade and Adeline, who were right there with them? It's nonsensical. Taylor could've made it work, but the way he wrote it is both contrary to mythology and it doesn't make sense within the story itself. This was a serviceable tale. I appreciated that Taylor didn't cram this one so full of DC characters that he ran out of time to properly tie up the plot threads. Focusing on a small group of characters worked in his favor this time. I'm into the idea of expanding the DKoS universe into other medieval genres, but I worry Taylor won't know when to let it die and it will go on far too long and get way too convoluted. But for now, this was a decent mini.

This was good not great. Story was so-so, art was good, dialogue was okay. Nothing to write home about, but still entertaining.

Basic introductory issue was we meet the team and get to know them a bit. Not overly exciting but necessary and helpful. Parker's writing is really sharp though and Walker's art is fantastic, honestly way better than I've ever seen him. I've always liked his art, but his work here is better than anything I've seen him put out recently.

John Walker leaping out of his wheelchair to waste the escaped convicts with only one arm and one leg was absolutely awesome.

An action-packed Thunderbolts vs Kaiju fight was exactly what was needed after a wordy and uneventful issue looking at Ghost's backstory. This was decent. The Hyperion "twist" was painfully predictable though.

Way too long for a tie-in issue. The art was not great, and the short stories weren't nearly interesting enough. The most interesting part of the Thunderbolts tying into Fear Itself was Juggernaut's transformation, and we didn't see him at all in this overly long issue.

The art is great, the story is fine, but the writing needs improvement. I'm just not feeling much depth to these characters. What should've been a powerful moment between Moonstone and Juggernaut fell flat cause we haven't really gotten any strong character building yet this run. The action and good art only get you so far. What this series is lacking most of all...is heart.

These Fear Itself tie-ins are getting tedious... FIVE tie-in issues? Seems excessive.

I'm not sure what this has to do with Fear Itself anymore. Why is it still a tie-in issue? Juggernaut is nowhere to be seen. And where is Luke Cage? I've forgotten what the supposed leader of the Thunderbolts is doing, and that's not a good sign. The writing is a bit cringe, and one of the few things this series had going for it (the art) took a step down in this issue. This is just becoming a chore to read, which is sad because it had a lot of potential.

This was actually kind of fun. Luke is still an idiot for leaving the Thunderbolts when he's supposed to be leading them, and there isn't really a Thunderbolts team anymore now that most of them flew the coop. But that aside, the stuff going on with the escapees was actually entertaining. Going back in time and running into pre-ice Captain America was fun, although Namor seemed really poorly written here. Moonstone's little trick at the end was clever too.

I think this might be my last issue of this run. I rarely ever DNF books once I start them, but I'm about halfway through this Thunderbolts omni and it's been a slog for most of it. I'm not enjoying myself, and my time would be better spent on other things. I hope others enjoy this more, but unfortunately it's not for me. There's just nothing remarkable about it, and good art can only carry a series so far.

This was great. Love seeing plot threads come together. Also, Ellis is a master when it comes to writing action sequences.

This is bananas. I just love Ellis' writing. And man does he ever write a good Bullseye. Would love to see him tackle Daredevil someday.

Absolutely unreal. Ellis rarely disappoints.

Unfortunate crossover issues are usually more miss than hit. It detracts from the main story and derails any built momentum, especially when it happens this close to the beginning of the run. This wasn't bad, especially Shalvey's art, but it was just sorta meh.

Dang, Crossbones. You cold af.

We get some backstory on Ghost's past, which is nice. Team books like this where the characters are mostly expendable are better when you care about them to an extent or at least know them better. Makes it more impactful if they end up biting the bullet.

There were some things I liked in this, and then there were some things I disliked and were, quite frankly, really really dumb. Firstly, Duggan needs to stop trying to be funny. His jokes never land, and they always seem to be thrown in at the worst moments. It's especially frustrating because he does have the potential to be a half decent writer and he shows it in some places, but then he'll go and write something completely asinine like having Krakoa incapacitate Nimrod by hocking a giant loogie of amber at him, prompting Nimrod to exclaim "Amber?! Unit disabled! He got me!" Like...are you kidding me Gerry...? Nimrod was a terrifying, menacing force when Hickman wrote him. Here, he's an absolute joke. I got secondhand embarrassment from reading his lines in this issue. The story wasn't bad. I thought the final conflict was set up well, and I liked the couple callbacks to earlier events in the Krakoan era. I don't love how many tie-ins there are to this final event that I'm definitely not going to read all of and therefore will feel like I'm half out of the loop at all times... but this was an okay start. I already know I'm going to enjoy Gillen's half of this story FAR more than Duggan's, but that comes as a surprise to precisely no one. Oh, and Lucas Werneck's art was perfectly adequate. Good in places, and just 'fine' in others. It would've been cool to have the legend Pepe Larraz come back so that he and R.B. Silva could provide a nice little artistic bookend to the Krakoan era, but alas...twas not meant to be I suppose. At least he's doing the covers I guess, not that that makes much difference to me who only collects trades.

Man, this was one muddled mess of a comic. A couple fun moments, but overall it was scattered, disjointed, and incoherent. Gerry Duggan was the absolute wrong person to carry Hickman's X-Men torch... They should've just handed the whole thing over to Al Ewing and Kieron Gillen. Those two wrote easily the best two series' of the post-Hickman Krakoan era. I'm very glad Gillen is writing Rise to counterbalance Duggan's incompetence, but that just makes Duggan's shortcomings all the more obvious. Would've loved to have seen what Ewing and Gillen could have cooked up together. Also, I really don't buy that Dr. Gregor would suddenly have a change of heart and start helping the mutants after everything she's done and how they've already established her character. It gives General Hux "I am the spy!" vibes.

Okay this was a significant step up from the previous issue. This is what's so frustrating about Duggan; he *CAN* be a pretty good writer, he just has way more misses than he does hits. But this one, refreshingly, was one of his hits.

I actually quite liked this. Again Duggan shows that he can write well when he wants to.

I actually enjoyed this. Epic fight with Nimrod. I don't love how easily Orchis seemed to crumble after Nimrod and Omega Sentinel were defeated, but it was a cool battle nonetheless.

I'm honestly quite surprised at the low ratings. This was actually good. Ribic's art is of course the main draw, but Milligan does a fine job setting the stage and creating an eery sense of uneasiness in the deep dark of the ocean. We don't see Namor at all in this first issue, but we sure feel his presence. Very well done first issue.

Not quite as good as the first issue, but still not an unenjoyable read. I liked it. Though I will say, Milligan didn't give Ribic much to work with here. His art is the main attraction with this book, but not much happened so Ribic didn't really get to work his magic.

This isn't bad at all. Would love to see more Namor, but I think the little we see of him actually adds to the tension.

That last page was terrifying. Best issue yet.

This conclusion was fine. Overall, this mini-series was not what I was expecting, perhaps not what I'd hoped, but it was not bad, and it certainly was not deserving of the very low ratings it received by other reviewers. Ribic's art elevates this story significantly, and without him it would be much, much less worth anyone's time, but for what it was, I don't regret reading it. It was cool to see Namor depicted in such a terrifying light.

This was actually a pretty good start. A bit wordy, but not bad at all. Not sure how I feel about Werneck's art yet.

I can't say I didn't enjoy this. Magneto is acting weird, but I assume there's a reason for that that will soon be revealed. I think I like the art? But I find it a bit lacking compared to the many other stellar artists we've been treated to throughout the various X books.

Kaiju...? Where in the heck did that come from? And why? Just... why? This issue made very little sense and didn't seem to advance the story much at all. They could have just showed the Scarlet Witch stuff and left out the nonsensical anime battle. A 7/10 is probably generous for this issue but I'm still enjoying this book overall so, there you go.

I feel like this series should be titled "The Death of Wanda Maximoff" or something instead of "Trial of Magneto". The latter seems a tad misleading for how much Magneto is actually in this story. Also, I feel like Williams was on a time crunch when she wrote this issue. Everything feels sloppily thrown together. There are some cool moments, but the pacing kept me from enjoying them.

You know what? This was an enjoyable issue. It feels like Williams knew exactly how she wanted to end this series from the beginning (and I will say, it was actually quite a good concept), but it just felt like she had no idea how to connect the dots and get us to the desired ending smoothly. But at the end of the day, despite an extremely messy couple issues in the middle, this series managed to end strong. I really like Wanda's redemption here. And I finally get the title now! TRIAL of Magneto, but not that kind of trial. Clever clever. I still don't like it. This was a book about Wanda and the title should've been something more Wanda-centric. Making it about Magneto was misleading from the start and I think contributed to people's disappointed with what was delivered compared to what they expected. Overall, not a bad series in my opinion. Not a good one, but not a bad one.

Really cool start. I've never been the biggest fan of Bryan Hitch's art, but it's growing on me and it was really good here. Story-wise, this was definitely an interesting setup. I'm intrigued to see where things go. The writing was solid, and the pacing was well done. Overall great start to a series. I've heard good things about this run so this start bodes very well for my enjoyment of the rest of it.

This was a GREAT issue. What a cool new revelation into Hawkman's origins. The flashback was amazingly done and brilliantly paced. This changes the status quo of the character and this series in such a fresh and intriguing way. The idea of the reason for Hawkman's reincarnation throughout the centuries being a second chance to redeem himself for the lives he helped take, and the stipulation that his reincarnation cycle would end when he saves as many lives as he took...that is just so cool. Hitch's art was really great in this one too. Best issue so far. Super excited to see where things go from here.

There were some cheesy parts in this, but Carter summoning every past version of himself to fight with him was dope.

This was a decent issue overall, BUT...are you telling me that the Deathbringers came to Earth with for the express purpose of destroying it along with Hawkman, and they didn't charge their giant bird robots' weapons beforehand...?? So when it came time to destroy everything, their robots had to start charging their weapons while conveniently announcing the charging status percentage every 5 seconds? I'm sorry...but that's just plain stupid. This has been a pretty good run so far, but that was just terrible writing.

The groundhog day vibe was fun, but the resolution to the several hundred year long war was kinda silly to be honest... a soldier just walks out and holds up a ration bar and then everyone clears out the trenches and just like that, they make peace? I don't know. Venditti is a decent writer, but some of the stuff he writes is just not well enough thought out.

Story and writing were meh. Art was below average.

"Mind if I take your lives?" - Hawkman (A real line from this issue) The idea of the Shadow Thief being able to rip peoples' shadows from their bodies is extremely cool. Unfortunately, poor writing (see above) and poor art make for a fairly disappointing issue.

Not great. Would Sky Tyrant even know who Batman is if he's from another universe where people are opposites of themselves and go by different hero names?

I actually quite enjoyed this. The battle was pretty epic, the art was great, and the writing was quite good. That Adam/Atom joke was subtly awesome.

A quick read. Not bad, but my gosh did Hawkwoman ever behave like an absolute numbskull in this issue... "Oh, the ancient dimensional key thing is glowing and projecting voices into my mind, I should touch it." Brilliant, Hawkwoman. Simply brilliant. And then she opens Sky Tyrant's cell after he flops around a bit and feins unconsciousness? How stupid can you be? Anyway. Other than Hawkwoman's toddler-like survival instincts, this was decent.

Really good. Not sure I was the biggest fan of how the villain was defeated by simply...winning too hard? But it was fine. It also doesn't exactly make sense that Carter ends up buck naked when they wake up in Hawk heaven but Shay is somehow wearing linen wraps, but whatever. Carter finally atoning for his sins was a satisfying conclusion to the storyline that started way back at the beginning of this run. That's some good plotting by Venditti.

Really good. I loved the editor's note to just read the whole run up till now, that made me chuckle.

A dang near perfect finale. Fantastic art, fantastic end to the story.

Cool premise, solid opening. Things are going to get insane in extremely short order and I am looking forward to it.

This is wild and I love it.

This issue was a little boring in itself, but it sets up some really interesting stuff in the rest of the series. A big revelation that was interesting even though it was a bit predictable. Why am I finding that my favourite parts of each issue are when the genies explain the rules of the wishing and the wish-fulfillment?

I want to like this more, but the pacing is insane and the story seems so scattered as a result. We stayed in the bar for like the first four issues, and now we jump forward over 70 years in a single issue?

Not a bad finale, but I had slightly higher expectations. This was a silly, entertaining series that wasn't quite as deep as it may have wanted to be, but it was a fun ride nonetheless.

A solid return to Daredevil's story. Art is outstanding as usual, and this is an intriguing setup.

Really cool to see a host of past Daredevil artists make some cameo appearances, and Checchetto always kills it, but other than the nice art this issue didn't have much else going on. This Goldy-guardian-angel stuff is a little strange, and I feel like this issue could've advanced the plot a lot more. We just got a lot of Matt and Goldy talking, and that's basically it.

Again, I feel like the story isn't really advancing much.

de Lattore is easily the best fill-in artist this run has seen since Jorge Fornes. I'm digging the setting and looking forward to what Zdarsky seems to be building towards, I just hope the payoff is worth it.

A really good issue. Checchetto's art here looks a little rougher/more rushed than usual, but Marco Checchetto at 80% is better than most artists at 100%, so I can't really complain. Walker and Daredevil's back and forth was great, with hornhead dropping one of the coldest lines I've ever read in a DD comic. I gotta say though, I'm getting real tired of the word "fascist" and other similar words being thrown around so casually. All it does is water them down to the point that they can be used the suit the user's own subjective opinions without actually being based in reality. It's a careless use of speech at best and dangerous at worst. Definitions matter. That's all. Again, this issue was great, so my quibbles are small.

Good art, meh story. Beginning felt like Zdarsky having a go at "Heroes In Crisis"; complete with the signature Tom King 9-panel grid interview headshots. This run is also getting a little bogged down by Zdarsky continually inserting his political views on the prison system into these issues. I'm all for rehabilitation, and that is definitely something that prisons can do better, but breaking a bunch of criminals out of prison is not exactly going to teach them accountability, which is definitely a big part of rehabilitation. It also just seems like a really risky move...breaking a bunch of super-powered villains out of a maximum security prison and just crossing your fingers that they'll join your crusade if you teach them how to prepare enough garlic? Bold move, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off. Best line of the issue: "...the carrot instead of ME." That was brilliant, gotta give credit where due. Worst line of the issue: "Here, you'll only suffer from CARE." I mean... YIKES. Big yikes.

This issue was okay. It felt a little weird for Matt to fly 5 of his jailbroken rehab projects all the way over to North Carolina just to get involved with a demo case that I'm not entirely sure how he would've heard about in the first place unless he's like...checking the news from time to time in between reading ancient Fist prophecies and shagging Elektra. But I guess Zdarsky had to find some way to keep driving his politics home. Other brief thoughts: - The art was good, the story kind of advances but not really? - Dragon? Sure, I guess! - On one level, The Punisher using swords is cool, but on another level, it's weird and I don't like it. - No, Bullet, prisons don't separate fathers from their children...fathers separate themselves from their children when they choose to violate the law. Prisons aren't entities that prey on innocent people and turn them into bad people, they're where we put criminals in order to protect innocent people who keep the law from those who break it. - I guess the Matt who acknowledged that he wasn't above the law, willingly turned himself in, and demanded to serve his full sentence is gone and he's been replaced by a Matt who seems to think he IS the law and that as long as he thinks he's breaking the law to help people then he's justified. I know this has always sort of been Matt's justification, it was just presented in a weird way here that seemed at odds with Matt's previous attitude and how he struggled with guilt over what he has to do in the name of justice.

Matt the dragon whisperer? Sure, alright! Great art, cool fights, but it doesn't feel as high stakes as it should for some reason.

Another issue where stuff happens, but I feel like the plot hasn't really advanced at all. The art was a step down, and the twist of *SPOILER ALERT* being dead and in hell kinda came out of left field. Not sure what the ramifications of that will be, but I'm growing more impatient with these last couple arcs. I'm not overly invested in this whole battle against the Hand...it doesn't seem all that well thought out. And I'm just so tired of the Stromwyns man...they've become so annoying as villains in this series. I miss Muse.

This was an enjoyable issue, but I mean...I'm of the opinion that the Avengers are in the right here, which I'm not sure was Zdarsky's intention...sooo, I think it was enjoyable for the wrong reasons. Spidey put it as well and as simply as possible: Matt broke killers out of prison. He may have a good point that letting criminals rot in jail without putting any effort into rehabilitating them isn't helpful or humane, but then start pushing for policy changes and advocating for more effective rehabilitation programs. Don't break into a prison and set a bunch of murderers free. Good motive, but reeeally bad method. I was cheering for the Avengers this whole issue, which, again, feels like it probably wasn't Zdarsky's aim here, but I can't help it. Matt is doing dumb stuff and the Avengers and the law are responding accordingly. Couple quick thoughts: -Art was out of this world. Checchetto continues to blow me away. -Matt saying Spidey is "just another cop" as an insult is so dumb and really shows just how Zdarsky feels about law enforcement.

One of God's first lessons for the world was fear? Fear of losing His love? Man it grinds my gears to no end when Daredevil writers show that they have no depth of understanding about biblical matters. Chip's theology sucks. Other than that, art was decent, it was nice to see the Stromwyns finally get theirs, even if it came after a bit of a weirdly extreme tactic from Matt. Also, Cole and Matt have been far too pessimistic for my taste throughout this run. It makes me miss Waid and Soule's Daredevil runs. Those writers actually wrote a Daredevil who believed he could make a difference no matter how hopeless it seemed or how corrupt the system was. You stare into the face of injustice and you keep fighting it back, even if it seems like it's winning the day. Cole and Matt just come across like they're throwing in the towel. This is not inspiring by any stretch.

Finally an issue that gets back to the quality that Chip is capable of but hasn't been meeting for a while. This was a really cool issue, and the art was fantastic. It was awesome to see Blindspot again, although I gotta say...as incredible as Checchetto's art is, he didn't do a very good job of making Sam look Asian... I noticed the same thing when he drew Kirsten McDuffie too...she didn't seem to have the slightly darker skin tone she's supposed to when Checchetto drew her. Maybe he just has a hard time drawing races other than black and caucasian for some reason? I don't know.

Another solid issue. The symbolism is super cool, and Daredevil's white suit with the fiery horns and ethereal swords is one of the baddest things I've ever seen. Art was out of this world. This is shaping up to be a really great conclusion that could've been so much better if the lead up to it actually made sense and wasn't just a fart in the wind, narratively speaking.

Well, so ends Zdarsky's run on Daredevil. I enjoyed this ending, and I'm very pleased Chip managed to salvage his run after losing his way a bit towards the end. I'll remember this run fondly for having boasted some of the best art Daredevil has ever seen, the epic Devil's Reign event, Elektra's awesome Daredevil costume, and some good to great writing at its peak. Unfortunately, as with most runs that go on for this long, it wasn't without its faults. Zdarsky's run was at its worst when he seemed more focused on inserting his political opinions into every issue than crafting a cohesive and compelling superhero story. It got to the point of beating a dead horse and just grew really tiresome. All in all, I quite enjoyed Zdarsky's run, though, for me personally, it doesn't take the top spot in my all-time favourite Daredevil runs as it apparently had for many others. Top 5 for sure. Has a case for top 3 even. But not 1 or 2.

Nothing fancy, but it had good art and it was entertaining enough.

You know what...I didn't mind this at all. Yeah the writing wasn't amazing, yeah the story was fairly simple and nothing overly original, but sometimes you're just in the mood to not think too much and see Batman lay the smackdown on some low-level thugs with great art, and that's exactly what this was. It wasn't revolutionary and I probably won't read it a second time, but I am glad I read it once, and for what it was, I enjoyed it.

Pretty good. Seemed a little fast-paced, and I'm wondering if having Doom narrate the story was the best creative choice, but overall a pretty decent start.

I thought this was wildly entertaining. The whole thing is just a giant Marvel parody that does not take itself seriously at all, and I had a grand old time reading it. The humour was really landing for me throughout. Ellis has always been good with clever, snappy dialogue, and his work here was on par with what I know he's capable of. The art was good for the tone of the story. This issue was mainly an introduction to our main team members, so we got a healthy dose of exposition and setup, but I can only see it improving from here and I already love it. Exactly what I was in the mood for.

This comic is absurd, ridiculous, silly, and wonderful.

This one was a step down. The dialogue and humour weren't as good, and the story wasn't as interesting. Some mindless action that made for a quick read, but nothing really of substance.

Now we're back on track. This was up to the standard set by the first two issues. Great jokes, hilariously absurd plot...just pure entertainment. The little origin story of the Captain right in the middle of the issue was enjoyable and most welcome. I'm glad we get a little backstory.

So great. One of the funnier issues yet. Aaron getting dunked on by a group of celestials and Captain America telling Monica to go back to Avengers mansion and make his dinner had me absolutely reeling. "Fear my robot head" was another gold moment. This comic is so ridiculous. I love it. More of this please.

A little disappointed with this one. Just mindless action and that's about it. When about 50% of the panels are Elsa beating robot samurais with a shovel, it gets kinda stale kinda quick. Some of the jokes are funny, and a little bit of mindless action can be enjoyable, but I'd also like to see the plot advance a little bit.

"Rorkannu, Lord of the Dank Dimension" absolutely sent me. As did Aaron punting Mindless Ones into the air with his elongated legs. This was a super fun issue.

The alternate universe dreams were a little too long and a little too confusing, especially Monica's. It not working on Tabitha because she "doesn't have a brain" was kinda funny, I'll admit, but it doesn't change the fact that this was a pretty pointless issue that didn't really advance the plot at all.

The zombie Dirk Anger thing was pretty stupid, even for a book this intentionally over-the-top ridiculous, but the series of double-page splashes depicting Nextwave fighting through the ship was insane. Never seen something quite like it before. Made for a quick read, but it was a lot of fun to look at. I bet Stuart Immonen had a blast drawing this issue.

This series was decent, not great. I had higher hopes for it after a banger of an opening issue, but the jokes got kinda tired after a bit and there's only so many explosions and robots I can take before I need some actual story. It was entertaining to be sure, but it won't stay with me, and I doubt I'll ever revisit it. Glad I read it though.

Hopeless knows how write a fun comic, and Rodriguez's art is absolutely incredible.

Listen...did this book have its problems? Yes, it did. Did it smell a little too strongly of thinly-veiled misandry? You betcha. DeConnick clearly has beef with not only certain men, but all men, everywhere, throughout history. She seems to think that because some men have horrifically abused and mistreated some women, therefore all men are bad simply because they are men. Was the portrayal of Aphrodite ridiculous? Absolutely it was. The Goddess of love and beauty being depicted as morbidly obese? I eye-rolled so hard I saw my prefrontal cortex. You can argue all you want that beauty standards have changed through the years, but there has never been a time in history when someone THAT large would've been regarded as the highest standard of physical beauty. So this was by no means a perfect issue. It was well-written in parts, had an epic feel to it (which I liked), and set up an interesting plot going forward, but it did have some glaring problems that cannot (and should not) be ignored. HOWEVER. All that being said, I don't think I can say that I have ever witnessed art so breathtakingly gorgeous, so staggeringly intricate and detailed, so utterly and completely stunning in my whole entire life. I'm certainly not buying whatever message Kelly Sue is very clearly trying to sell here, but dangit...I can't bring myself to give this issue lower than a 10 for the sole fact that Phil Jimenez's art is, quite simply, perfect. It's just...perfect. It's so good that it deserves bonus points that make up for the marks I would've taken off for DeConnick shamelessly clubbing me over the head with her fourth-wave feminist cudgel. Knowing that Jimenez isn't drawing the rest of the series, I don't expect to enjoy the next two issues very much, but at least I was treated to an absolute visual FEAST for one issue.

This was okay. The writing seemed a little more bland for some reason. Just felt like it lacked the grandiosity and epicness of the first issue. And obviously the art took a big step back, but I expected as much since nothing could've compared with the perfection Phil Jimenez treated us to. Taken on its own, Gene Ha's art is not bad, it's just much, MUCH weaker than Jimenez's, so it seems bad by comparison. One nitpicky problem I had was it seems like Gene Ha just completely ignored Jimenez's character design of Hera from the first issue and decided to do his own thing, cause she looks completely different in book 2! She's decked out in a totally different wardrobe, her facial features seem radically different, and she's very clearly put on more than a few pounds for some strange reason. Just out of curiosity, I flipped ahead to peep on Nicola Scott's design in book 3, and it looks very similar to Phil Jimenez's, so I don't know what Gene Ha was doing. I honestly don't much care how she's supposed to look, but at least be consistent.

The art here was better than book 2, but still not as good as in book 1. Unfortunately, while the writing wasn't necessarily bad, it just didn't really grab me. I found it hard to care about any of these characters. Also, Wonder Woman has extremely little to do with this story so it's kinda annoying that they put her name in the title just to sell copies when it would've been far more accurate to simply name it Historia: The Amazons. I realize I'm in the minority of folks who wasn't completely wowed by this story. I feel like there were some really good ideas and concepts here that I COULD have loved, but I just didn't feel like it was executed as well as it could've been.

This was a really good Tony-centric issue with incredible art, though it would probably resonate most with those who have been reading Iron Man's current run.

This was a pretty good Jean-centric one-shot with some fabulous art. Compliments the story nicely, even if it's not essential to it.

This was a good issue, Gillen writes these one-shots well. I enjoy the focus on sole characters and delving into their motivations and pasts, but unfortunately this one was brought down by sub-par art.

This was a sad yet hopeful story about love and learning to keep living after loss. It's poignant, and equal parts heartbreaking and touching. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as I hoped I would, but I certainly didn't dislike it. Just thought it could've had a little more oomph. I realize that's vague and unhelpful, but I was just feeling that it didn't quite have the impact intended, at least for me.

This wasn't classic Jonathan Hickman. I don't know what it was, but the writing style really didn't seem like him. It seemed more like something Mark Millar or someone would write. That's not to say it was badly written, it was just very different from what Hickman usually does. It was faster paced, less complex, the dialogue was a little cheesier... On its own merit, it was a decent issue. I guess I just expected more from one of my favourite writers. Greg Capullo's art was gorgeous and it's great to see him back at Marvel. The story has a fairly basic premise and wasn't overly original. Hopefully it gets better, but for what it was, it was pretty good.

Again, it's not bad, it's just not the Hickman we're used to. Too many time jumps...no real depth to the story or the characters, even Wolverine. It feels very surface-level. The plot isn't overly interesting. I just feel like it isn't living up to its potential fully.

I loathe the thought of giving a book written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Greg Capullo a score lower than a 10, cause that's what this series SHOULD be...but it isn't, and I can't in good conscience rate it any higher. It's not terribly written, and the art is obviously phenomenal, but there's just no substance to this story. No depth. No apparent direction either. What's the point? What's the message? It's just a basic revenge story, and not even that compelling of one. And now Logan has had his revenge, but we've still got two issues left? What is going on...? This just doesn't seem like the same Jonathan Hickman who was the mastermind behind arguably the greatest era in X-Men comics history, not to mention incredible, all-time great runs on Fantastic Four and the Avengers. I just had such higher hopes for this mini. These two creators have proven that they're capable of so much more.

Cool fight, great art, story is still pretty shallow.

Not a bad story, just not the amazing one I expected from these two creators. Not a very deep tale. Didn't really make me feel anything...it was just sorta Wolverine killing people cause that's what he does best. But that's not all he is, and I would've liked for Hickman to show that he understands a little bit more about what makes the character so compelling beyond his ability to stabby-stab and snikty-slice people up real good.
